Thank you.
I was not aware there is a caliber limit.

I thought all 50 caliber rounds except the Browning Machine Gun 50 Caliber were still allowed in California. Didn't they start selling some other 50 caliber variants in this state - ?

The 50BMG is a specific round, not a limit.

Yup, cause gun shops have lawyers.

Great post OP. Didn’t even know this thread existed. (Kind of happy I didn’t see it before I started assembling AR’s. I’d have gone crazy. )

Anyway, nice to confirm some of my choices and get some new ideas!

I just finished reading most of the posts and feel like I learned a lot. What a great read for guys who are unfamiliar with the AR-15. Thank you, Agent Tikki.

Is the FNC process applicable to stainless steel barrels for use in AR-9 pistols?

I purchased my 1st fixed mag AR here in Cali & it was sold without a bolt catch. My local FFL or manufacturer didnt have a response for me when I said Id like to install a bolt catch paddle..... "refer to your local laws" so lame. can I do this & still be compliant/legal?

Btw this write up is mucho informative as a nooby to this 2A community

I don't know if it's already been mentioned in this thread, but IMO, unless you're using a complete upper for your build, a good set of go/no go gauges should be part of your budget. They could save you from a world of hurt.

No issues with installing a bolt catch and/or bolt catch paddle.

Wouldn’t a bolt catch eliminate the mag lock though? I thought that was the whole reason the bolt catch was replaced with the maglock to work with the Juggernaut rear pin? No maglock would mean the rear pin is pointless and no longer CA compliant or am I missing something?

BTW, thanks to this forum and all the information and resources. I am also a new firearm owner with a JT equipped rifle. Just learned the hard way and locked the upper and lower together when I was fiddling with the rear pin and now I have to wait for a castle wrench to arrive so I can free it up.

Default Better directions for 80% lower build?

Finishing an 80% lower and AR build, I like the instructions below from American made tactical, but has any one come across any others that are good? Looking to get more references and knowledge.

The only limit I am aware of is the outlawing of .50 BMG.
And I am not allowed an M203 but I digress.

IMHO in my humble opinion, if your AR9 pistol is a fun gun, a stainless barrel is fine as it is. If you plan on going through lots and lots and lots of rounds (read thousands and thousands) through it, consider FNC or a more durable barrel.
