Default John & ken's common sense voter guide 2020...

A common sense voter guide that explains the California Propositions in easy to understand laymen's terms...and applies common sense to their recommendations.

As far as the issue of RTKBA goes, they are as pink as AOC’s inflated labia.

Trump YES

I differ:

18 - No, we need voters who are more mature not less.
22 - No, because this makes a carve out for Uber and Lyft. All contractors should be restored not just the Gov cronies like Lyft and Uber.

I'll also say this about rent control (21); it never actually works. If you put a limit on how much an owner can charge, then new units will not be built. This is true because a landlord/owner will not invest in new rental units if they cannot control the rent to cover new costs or repairs.

I will vote no on 18 as well but yes on 22 as it sends a message and I like having Uber when I need it.

Prop 21 should be a NO ...its the illegal taking of property.

I will use Tom McClintocks guide which is no on all except #20 and #22 that he recommends a yes.
Tom McClintock is solidly pro gun and a man Californians can be proud of and although I listen to Jon and Ken frequently they are not the same caliber of Tom McClintock!

Proposition 20 – "A Step Back from the Abyss: YES. Long version:
This measure repairs some of the damage of Jerry Brown era laws that have
made California less safe. It increases penalties for many theft and fraud
crimes that Brown reduced to misdemeanors, requires convicts to submit
DNA for state and federal databases and restores the ability of parole
boards to keep dangerous prisoners behind bars. Short version: Jerry
Brown opposes it."

I don’t know if you ever have been an employer but Lyft and Uber drivers fit the guidelines for contractor and are not subject W2 until the state made a special carve out to extort that money from them. Yes 22 is a carve out but it’s to counter the state’s carve out specifically attacking Lyft and Uber drivers.

Vote yes.

No on kids and convicts voting.

20 includes being able to get DNA for certain crimes. No thanks.

22 takes away a major player for getting AB-5 fully repealed. Already got a no there. Maybe Uber/Lyft, drivers, and users should have donated and voted for better politicians.

The show used to be the angry white guy vs. the liberal.
Then it became the common sense guys.
Now they have become populists, who are like weather vanes.

John is a closet elitist, who will drive the diamond lane solo to get where he wants because he can afford to pay the fine.

Regarding guns, again elitists, who know they will get protection or will be able to live in a place where there is no crime.

Major disagreement I have is with prop 18. For me that's a big No.

I like Katy Grimes' list. She is the editor of the California Globe, and I suspect she colluded with McClintock while writing this article. Excellent read, with some good reasoning behind it.

If you think about it, though, small carve-outs are how gun control got this far...not in one big fell swoop, but in thousands of small cuts...

A bit confused about your thought process for the above comment and how it relates to groups getting cutouts of laws

Notice how law enforcement gives no support against gun laws. They get a cut out and don't give a damn for anyone else.

The last time I heard those guys was in Excremento back in the late 1990's. Apparently they got fired from their LA job and were working a radio station there. Guess they got their old job back?
