Went to the range today to try to zero in my Burris XTR II 5x25-50 SCR MRAD scope on my RPR on 6.5.
I couldn’t hit paper at 100 yards, so I brought it in to 50 yards. I managed to hit paper at the top of the target with POA at the center of the target... see pic. 10” high at 50y with a 4 shout group. I tried to dial down the elevation, but I was already at the lower end. No more adjustment down... now what? Other information... - The distance between the bore center and scope center is 2.75” roughly. Is this too much causing not enough adjustment in the elevation to accommodate the mount? - I removed the scope/mount and mounted it on my MPA / Savage 10. I had the same problem with not enough room to move down... but the the POI vs POA was 3.25 inches away from 50y, as opposed to 10” on the RPR. The bore center to scope center distance is 2.25” vs the RPR which is 2.75. - I wanted to see how much elevation was in the turret, so I turned it all the way in (clockwise) and then counted how much MILs / full clicks I have from the zero (turned in), and it’s only 12 Mils, so one full turn + 2 Mils. This doesn’t seem right. The turret goes all the way to 19.5 MILs, what am I missing? Someone take me to school lol... I’m tired of searching YouTube! NorCalFocus already found your answer but in short; your scope came in with only a small preset amount of travel.
You can remove the elevation knob as described in the instructions, and unscrew the dial (move it up), which will then give you the room needed to adjust down.

But the step that was missing was exactly what you just explained I think... to remove the turret completely and unscrew the dial, move it up so I have room! Of course I’m on biz travel today... I’ll update tomorrow night when I get in. Tx for all the feedback folks . Hopefully this will help another newbie out in the future. |

remove allen screws holding the turret and you should find a few screws facing down towards the scope. On the NF, you loosen the 4 screws only enough where there is no tension, and spin the knob for more room. Tighten the screws down until snug, then add 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Reinstall the turret and voila. Btw, where do you shoot?

It looks like you have the XT elevation knob, the instructions should work for your model.
*It says start with the knob set at zero. *Then to loosen the set screws until the knob spins freely. *Now slightly pull up on the knob until you see that little hash mark on the turret. *Then you turn the knob clockwise pass zero, go pass zero 2 to 5 clicks. *Now tighten the set screws. Now adjust the elevation down as needed (bore sight should due) *Now loosen the set screws again, then turn the knob exactly to zero. *Now with the knob still loose, push down on the knob firmly/hard until it seats down into the turret base. *Now turn the knob clockwise until it stops on the zero click stopper. *Finally tighten the two set screws. |

Thanks for the replies... all solved.
loosened the two allen screws, not removed removed the turret cap completely took a screwdriver and turned the dial all the way out (counter clockwise, up) from there I counted clicks to all the way closed (clockwise, down) - 260 clicks I then turned the dial back up, counterclockwise 60 clicks reattached the turret with the zero on the vertical hash Now I have 60 (6 MILs) clicks below zero and 200 (20 MILs) clicks elevation adjustment Definitely learned a lot about adjustments in general with this excersise... So now when I zero at the range again, I’ll have enough room below and redo this entire process when I find my zero during my next range session...
