Talking My worst fears realized with my HK 91, 22 conversion kit

Yes it true, my HK 91 has turned into ferocioush eater of 22 lr ammo. This is the third time I have taken it out in this configuration. It function this time at 100% with no malfunction using federal 36 grain ammo. Went thru 300 rounds in a short period at angeles wednesdays night. I blame those evil 20 rd magazines. Have to go back to my 22 bolt actions before I'm changed forever.

What kind of conversion kit? How much did it cost and from where did you purchase it? Pictures?

Luckily that's only about $12-15 so you have that going for you...

I’ve had one also for years and it’s an unbelievably cool HK accessory. I even bought a separate Hensoldt zf4 scope for it and zeroed it for .22lr and switch scopes when converting it. Have fun.

I bought that hk 91 22 conversion unit back in the 1980's at great western gun show at Pomona fair grounds for 400 dollars brand new. I just started using it. I was surprised how accurate it is. It comes in a wood carrying case.

I saw the same conversion kit on Gunbroker for the past couple of months as well. Looks well built!

Here’s the kit. Mine was new/surplus from the German military after they switched from the G3 rifle. It is over built to a standard that can’t be expressed in words. Even the magazines are weighed to simulate a full 20 rd 7.62 magazine.
Here it is installed in my rifle. Only way you can tell is the grayish white magazines. Heading out to destroy a thousand rounds of .22 LR on steel targets this morning. Running the A3 stock today since i hate shooting 7.62 with that stock
Super fun.

Looks like mine. Except mine was made for commercial hk 91. The bolt assly is slightly different. Comes with a red hk 91 user booklet, 2 mags, barrel insert, bolt assly and cleaning kit.

Nice!!! Yours is more valuable than my G3 kit. Less of those in the US than the surplus ones like mine.

Here’s copies of the .22 kit from my HK manual in case you haven’t seen these.

My little red book has the same pictures marked as a G3 manual. I've have quite few 91 accessories. Including the collaspable stock. Never fired it with that stock in place. Doesn't look like it would be to comfortable to shoot with.

Ah very good. The manual that came with my kit is all in German. Wasn’t sure about yours so wanted you to have these from another HK book i have.

Yea that stock is terrible to shoot with 7.62. It looks awesome on the gun but is miserable. From what i’ve read, the butt is designed for firing rifle grenades using it like a foot mortar. I can see it being good for that. Take care and enjoy your HK’s!!!!
