Thanks - been squirreling MP44 stuff away for a few years.
Sold too much of it, should have kept some of the kits, but, that's life, there is always something more exciting around the corner.

thats pretty cool,
isnt someone going to be reproducing these in 223, 762 and 8mm soon. Not as cool as this but still.

The main historical relevance when discussing the MP44 is the 7,9x33mm Kurz cartridge, the forebear of almost every modern assault rifle cartridge.
(The action was copied from the Russian Simonov design, the magazine had been seen in other firearms, select fire in a rifle was also not new.)

The intermediate cartridge (not rifle/not pistol) was a paradigm change, a seismic gear-shift in small-arms design, it signaled the end of both the long rifle and the short SMG, it was the dawn of the black rifle.

The MP44 was however a sub-standard rifle by every other measure.
(Ask any of the post-war military that used it, they couldn't trade it out for an AK quick enough.)

To make one in any other caliber loses me. What's the point? Its still a sub-standard design.
If you want to blast cheap ammo, get a battle proven and improved upon AR or AK platform.

This is the rather uncommon 14 round box of 7,9x33mm Kurz - they are quite difficult to find - the last one I saw went for $300
