Default win 10 update keeps failing

help ! for about 6 months I keep getting this update error.........
"Security Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64 based Systems (KB4535680) - Error 0x800f0922"

is this something i need to be concerned about, and is there a simple fix short of taking this in for repair ?

Stop the Windows update sevice, clean manager, blow out everything INSIDE \temp\, \windows\temp\, and \windows\SoftwareDistribution\, reboot, disable/uninstall AV/IDS, then try again?

(Winver) Build number?

I just went to check myself, and the Update service was set to manual, and not running and got this when trying updates:

I started the service and Win updates loads now... and update processing, but I didn't blow out any temps...

Maybe this thread from MS will help?

If you use "kb4535680 - error 0x800f0922" as a search string, you will get quite a few results. Some may be helpful.

Hit the start button and type services, select it, scroll down to Windows Update, rt click it, all tasks, stop.
Hit start and type each of the paths to both temp folder I referenced, then \windows\SoftwareDistribution\ and hit enter, and empty each folder out, one at a time. Start with that, the Download might be corrupt and you are blowing out possible corrupt files/updates in that folder, the temp folder are just cleanup I do... most temp files are used once, and just take up space as there isn't something that cleans them well, except for cleanmgr.

sfc /scannow from a command prompt ran as Administrator... Make sure your crap is up to snuff before messing with other things.

Of the countless hours I have spent total, waiting for this scan, I do not believe this has ever helped on even one rig...

FOLLOW UP: out of frustration, I did a "reset", and win10 was reloaded with all my current files saved. including all the reloading and updating, this took about a full day. what was interesting, several of the the updates stated that the win10 version was old, and a newer version was being installed with with the supporting updates. system is running great, all updates have been installed with no problems. this was the first that I had become aware that some win 10 versions were being replaced with a newer version.

OP, I am glad to learn that you got your system working again.

Next time that happens to someone, they would do just as well to try something like Ubuntu or Linux Mint. I've upgraded my OS on this same box since Ubuntu 14.04 "Trusty Tahr". I'm now up to Ubuntu 20.04 "Focal Fossa", and that means upgrades through 16.04 and 18.04 as well. No problems.

Just a suggestion for other folks who would like to avoid the well-known Microsoft OS instability.

Getting tired of Microsnot's, WinX crap? Answer to solution?

Win7Pro. I'm still on it, no issues..... period!

Use Linux Mint.

Shut off Automatic updates in Win10 permanently.

You can use the media creation tool to upgrade to the latest version of Win 10. It usually craps out though if you already have issues running updates. Cool that you got it working. In general win 10 is a POS.
