Montana Governor signs bill to ignore Federal gun, ammo and mag restrictions. State LEOs won't enforce many (all?) Federal rules.

Thumbs up Louisiana: state senate passes CC!

Louisiana: IIRC, the House’s CC bill is still stuck in committee. So now the Senate’s CC bill, which the Senate passed today, gets sent to the House.

Thumbs up Texas: Gov Abbott says he’ll sign CC

https://thetexan.news/gov-abbott-ple...e-legislature/

Texas governor Abbott says he’ll sign CC if it gets to his desk. It has already passed the House and is working its way through the Senate. It will be discussed in committee this Thursday. If it passes the Senate it then goes to the governor.

It's good to hear him publicly endorse it. I don't think it would get the movement it needs unless he did publicly endorse it.

Phelan, the Speaker of the House came out for it when BOTH the governor and lieutenant governor ignored it in their stated legislative priorities. He is why it passed the House, but even then the Lt Gov said last week there were not enough votes in the senate and the governor was silent/AWOL.... IOW despite it passing the House it was DOA (“dead on arrival”) at the senate.

Then over the weekend Ret Col Allen West, head of the state GOP went on the offensive and pressured the Lt Gov to get it to a committee. CC was 1 of only 8 legislative priorities chosen by the state GOP delegates. It is popular and important to the GOP grassroots. Over the weekend the Lt Gov created a new committee, loaded it with pro CC GOPers and sent the CC bill to it. And that’s where we are.

The governor can no longer hide behind the Lt Gov if/when it passes the committee and then the Senate. Abbott has no choice: if he doesn’t sign it that will be political suicide.

If Texas gets CC this year it will be because of two people: Speaker Phelan and especially Col Allen West!

So we could have 22 states with a form of con carry by end of year? Man we're so close to half the country with con carry... I hope that plays a factor in NYSRPA v NY..

That's an important point when NY will claim it's going to be blood in the streets just to allow people to get permits to carry.....

That argument is no longer effective with 20 unrestricted and 22 shall issue states. Evidence shows that CA, NY, and NJ are no better off than any of the other 42 states.

I disagree. I think it can be used to show States like Ca, NJ, Il and NY with very restrictive permits are the most violent. This fact can and should be used against them.

The Louisiana House CC bill (SB596) has passed out of committee and is now on the floor. If it passes and is merged into one with the House’s CC bill and that passes the legislature it will face a veto by their Dem governor. Will they have the votes and the will to override the governor’s veto???

It'll probably be 1-2 votes short of a veto override in the LA house. In the state senate, R's have the necessary 2/3rds to override (assuming they're willing).

Con Carry in TX (HB1927) just passed out of committee in the state senate by a 5-2 margin. The full senate will vote next week, and then on to Abbott for his signature thereafter, God-willing.

Interesting, I didn't think it would get a vote in the Senate. Looks like it is going to happen.

Un frickin real! Lt Gov Patrick has only 12 or 13 solid GOP votes for it out of 31 Republican senators? That’s less than half! Texas is a bunch of RINOs! 20 states have already passed it and even LA may beat TX if they can muster a veto override.

12 or 13 out of 18. Still. Too many RINOs.

Good catch: there are 31 state senators total.

But only 12 out of 18 GOP senators for CC means that 1/3 are RINOs.

Winning Texas would be a big slap in the face to Biden and all the rest of the antis.

And Dallas has that loser garcia from San Jose (Santa Clara county) as their new police chief speaking out against it. That fool came to the US from puerto rico and couldn't speak English and yet he can hardly wait to step up and speak against the rights of the citizens of the country that he came to for a better life. What a total frickin' loser.

I hope it passes tomorrow.

Thumbs up Louisiana: CC bills pass both chambers!

CC bills have passed both Louisiana legislative chambers. I think (1) the two chambers negotiate a bill they both can agree upon, and both vote on it. (2) Then that gets sent to the governor for his promised veto. (3) The chambers then vote on a veto override.

Not quite. Live feed has them going over final debate. Then vote. Most likely will pass 18-13..

It just passed the Senate 18-13 with Amendment. It now goes back to the House with the new Amendment. The goal is to quickly pass it as is in the House, then to the Governor to sign.
