As stated DOZENS of times a current CA CCW or DD214 can be used in place of any training.

As the OP, this thread has gotten long (yay!).
I personally have no problem with people asking questions that have already been answered.
I'm really happy that this thread has been relevant for so long and no one has started arguing.
Keep helping each other and keep this going.

You’re gtg. Pretty much anything that proves basic training qualifies.

Thanks. Going through 45 pages for the answer would take some time.

It’s been a while, but I think I called them. They mailed it fast. I mailed it right back. The entire process was only a few weeks.

Most relevant answers can be found just going back a few pages.
If it's important enough you should do the work.

Your CA CCW will satisfy the AZ training requirement. But you still need to submit fingerprints, etc.

I did the application, fingerprints, hunters safety class cert, money.
My renewal was smaller application and money.

When I took my class, they gave me a certificate for AZ as well. If all they need is proof of firearm competency I would ask what proof would they accept.

I would email them at https://www.azdps.gov/services/public/cwp and ask. They usually answer within 24 hours.

This way if anything has changed you got it straight from the source.

1) his question was answered more than once
2) SBSD does not outsource that part of the training so no AZ certification would have been issued

He means within the 1000 ft GFSZ specifically, not carrying in general.

The other thing to keep in mind is that while that AZ CCW will allow you to carry inside of the GFSZ in AZ, it won't cover that in other states that honor AZ permits. Going to NV and want to carry with your AZ permit? Better make sure you know where he schools are since you're not exempt.

Just took and passed the CCW for Arizona. Honestly was extremely easy and pretty much identical to what I learned here. For us current CCW holders do they still do the fingerprint? Or is that only for those without CCW's?

If so, is there a way to find out a list of approved fingerprint takers here in CA? I believe they had to be NRA approved?

Thanks

Prints can be done anywhere. Your CA CCW was all you need for training not a class that charged you $$$.

Just an FYI, if you use the online fillable pdf application form and print it, it will remove an "X" response to the 9th question you must provide an answer to.

It's the question asking "Have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence? If yes, blah blah.

I just got my packet back with highlighting indicating that I did not answer every question.

I just filled out the form again, double checked that every question was checked on the screen, and hit print. It deleted the "X" to the same question, and it was still up on my screen, with an "X" on the electronic version.

Triple check the submission.

I'll check back when I get another response.

Try clicking the "print as image" box when you print. It may show the X.

Went to get fingerprints done. People had no idea what they were doing at UPS. Filled out the my employer section, which I was told doesn't need to be filled out anyways. They then put whiteout on it when they realized their mistake. An official government document that is. Embarrassing.

Did ours at a UPS Store and they were perfectly fine.
Many others have used them also and had no problems.

Yeah, I had a young girl, think she just didn't know what the hell she was doing. Unfortunately, I've only been dealing with livescan so I wasn't too sure of the things they have to fill in on the paper card version. At least I know now.

They told me to come back if they are rejected and they'll redo them for free so that's nice.

I had taken the local class in Tucson, mailed in everything on 3-9-20 they received it 3-11, as of today 5-2 nothing, I looked on their website and they are noting 75 working days is the time frame for approval. So that takes it into June when you look at the weeks.

I had emailed them and asked if they had any link to check your status and they do not. I'm assuming that if there was a problem with anything they would let you know but all the paperwork and fingerprinting was done by the people at the class and they double check everything for you so I'm hoping it's just busy.

I was told by a local FFL that the fastest they've seen is two months after applying. This was for a new application.

Is that post-china virus? I got my initial in a week in 2015 and my renewal in two weeks last August.

I'm betting renewals are much faster than new applications like mine is. The FFL I am referencing was just back in October/November so definitely post C-19.

It seems that there are so many new applications they're swamped at the moment, but at least they are giving 75 working days as the average time frame for new applications.

Did you take the AZ fingerprint instruction sheet with you? It lays out exactly how they want the FBI fingerprint cards filled out.

Second, I would have beat feet out of there and found another place to get prints done.

Did you send the cards with white out on them to AZ DPS?

Hopefully they don't kick them back and it works out for ya...

So your saying that you've been waiting over a year to hear from AZ DPS about your ccw?

I was a new applicant and took 10 days to get mine back.

I would definitely give them a call and not send an email. I had a question before I sent my application out and I called and the lady who answered was very friendly and helpful.

Hopefully you can get it sorted out. Those are California timeliness your talking about there.

Don't believe I had that, but just looked it up. Appears everything is correct or was correct minus the filling in of that stupidity.

I didn't send them in, I told them right away there's no chance they're accepted being it's a federal document (you'd think they'd know this). They told me to come back with new cards and they'll redo them free of charge.

2/18/21 - mailed application

2/22/21 - received by AZDPS

2/25/21 - money order cashed

4/26/21 - called AZDPS to check status. The rep on the phone said they’re backlogged. Currently working on submissions from the end of January and should be about another month for mine to complete.

Not sure why some are receiving it within weeks but my application is backlogged.

Your timeline is off from what I experienced, too. Mine came back with the unchecked box rejection after about ten days. I could tell from the red check marks on areas that it was a done deal, not a first glance, so it's under a month.
