I broke a firing pin tip on my 1892 rifle. The damn thing is 110 years old, so I guess it was just tired. Ordered a replacement, and set about putting it in yesterday. Used to be pretty good at tearing these down and re-assembling, but it's been a while. Consequently, this one gave me fits until I remembered a very good trick - get a spent casing in the chamber to hold the ejector/spring/collar in place while you re-install the finger lever and locking lugs. After that it went together without issue, and is fully functional again.
![]() GPC has 'em, and they are new reproductions so it should last me the rest of my life.

Good job. My dad traded a Luger for this .44-40 1892 in the late 50s and when hunting with it later on once the firing pin broke. He, being very good with tools, made a new one himself. It's still working fine now. In the 80s I won a cowboy shoot match with it, but it was a very small group of people. This gun has many factory verified special order features including take-down, Made in 1904.
