Default Remington V3 for home defense

https://www.remington.com/shop/%21NE...-Sight/p/80616

https://www.remington.com/shop/V3-12...-FLUSH/p/17697

$380 plus a flashlight to use my new v3 as a HD set up in the off season.

I have a v3 field sport in jail right now.

Anyone have this? Curious how they run.

User (hamajun) has the sport model IIRC. I don't know about the HD barrel and the extension kit. I believe he had to break it in a little before it ran consistent. I have shot with him recently and it ran fine for him.

You can buy a whole 870 or Mossberg pump for less than that.

Yes, I have V3 Field Sport. I primarily use V3 for sporting clays (and skeet sometime). My V3 break-in was done with a box of Fiocchi 1400fps

I did rapid fire Fiocchi Low Recoil Slug 1oz 1150fps & 7/8oz 1300fps while ago, and V3 had no issue to cycle them with 28" factory standard barrel.

Cool but I’d rather have an 870 in the corner. I’d be pissed if someone stole my v3. My hd guns sit out 24/7.

I love my versamax with a 19" barrel still have the 870s around but my versamax is the go to these days. Tons of round without a problem

I picked up a V3 field sport not too long ago and was considering this. No chokes - cylinder bore.

Why spend an extra $380 for parts to make it what you want?

Just spend $319 more and get a whole new gun.

The Remington V3 Tactical can be found on sale for $699.

While I agree it is also nice to stick with one thing and become really proficient with it. While I love my 870s and will always have them, I have been shooting my versamax so much more that I feel that much more confident with it right now.

I'm not seeing the Remington R12 come up for sale online.
I think the R12 is based on the V3 with most everything besides the receiver different (but don't really know).
My old 11-87P is still working, however, and I don't need to be spending some unknown amount which could be well-over $1000, maybe $1500.

The R12 is still a Rem Defense only item.... Basically a 18.5" Versamax. I decided to just cut down an extra barrel to 19" and works the same.
