I'm wondering how loose the interpretation of the name is. Can I make up a name of a company and put it on there or does it have to be my actual initials etc.? Could I use "(my last name) manufacturing"? My last name is close to Colt and I was thinking of doing a replica of a Colt lower with my last name in place of Colt and my city and state.

I can't dictate on what can or cannot be listed as a Name for the manufacturer. But fellow CG's have marked their name to be on the safe side, while others have intials or some kind of identification with Tactical, Armament, etc.

Hopefully someone that has registered with these details can chime in and prove success.

Are the laser engravings deep enough so that if I wanted to cerakote after engraving, they will still meet ATF depth reqs?

Engraving is approximately .01", its up to how thick of the coating is applied.

Thanks

I work at an industrial coater. Cerakote should apply around 0.001" - 0.002" thick at most. You'll be fine.

Just a got a few lowers engraved today and couldn't be happier with the result. Check it out:

(the bastards at Dropbox no longer let you host images like this... sorry)

He even went the extra mile on the Steelers logo and made the 3 stars different shades like the color logo.

I highly recommend P&L, great to work with and great attention to detail. Thanks so much

Are you guys just all hoping you don't need a DOJ supplied serial number like the first version of the AW registration rules said you would or are you not planning to register or what?

The DOJ-supplied serial isn't required until this summer (or next summer, don't quite remember). For now, we can chose our own.

The first version of rules they came out with said you could not register an 80% as an AW unless it had a DOJ supplied serial number.

ex post facto.

Anyway, this is a vendor's sales thread so I want to say that I was happy with OP's engraving.

For people with questions about what can/needs to be engraved, there's many other threads about 80s.

Hold on there !!!

Pls read up before posting stuff that can get people in trouble.

80% receivers are supposed to be milled by you... that means no one else
