Those USA Kershaws look great. I have a 1776 with the aluminum scales still. The FRN was a little fat. I gave a Bareknuckle (no assist flipper) as a gift and played with it... super strong detent on those - the opposite of the WE knives I have had that had a vague or non-existent detent. They are smooth and no blade play, but the detent needed to be stronger IMHO.

I might pickup a Dividend N690.

Yup, something obscene co is legit, relatively new from what I can tell. This one is perfect detent, fires every time perfectly. Lock up is spectacular. Blade is scary sharp. Even my Hinderers weren't as sharp as this from the factory.

Little bulky but it's a work knife not a gentlemen's carry. I want to grab one of the new Antimatters that are doing a presale right now. the double edged dagger is really cool, like the arch nemesis from SBD.

Oh forgot, M390 blade and 64alv titanium frame lock make for one hell of a knife. This guy is going to be my work carry for a while. wire stripping and random mechanical stuff.

Well, I'd agree the quality of the 0808 is there. The hawkbill is a cool blade for me, so useful. I haven't sharpened it yet but I imagine it wont be that hard. It reminds me more of a chavez ultramar 229

Nice shape! I was thinking about adding a cleaver folding knife to my collection, but I've mostly gone tanto recently. Cleavers are in style right now.

Best cleaver blade folder I've seen recently is the Kizer sheepdog. I've had one on my list for a while but I cant stop buying Pena X series. The Barlow is dropping any day and I'm hoping to get one.

I did Bourbon and Butter, seared then slow and low. Turned out really good. Medium rare without too much bark. My wife doesn't like bark so I've been forced to get creative

Nice... the other day I did bacon fat and the usual stuff... black pepper, salt, garlic, onion, paprika, Montreal Steak Seasoning, coffee in a Traeger just on smoke for an hour or two and then turn it up.

Can't exactly say, but I don't find it any better or worse than any other folder in my collection.

Perhaps its because I've already owned so many good knives and the Sebenza is a later acquisition, I just don't see what makes it so special.

Perhaps if it was my first knife, I'd feel differently.

I suspect other collectors started with a bunch of crap/cheapo knives and went up to the Sebenza. For me, it was just a lateral move that cost $435.

I have always wanted a Sebenza but I've run into the same scenario where I have $500 available for a knife and I compare to other knives in that price point I'm left lack luster and I go the other way.

I know many people that swear by them and I love the look of the new 31 Sebenza but I would rather buy a RHK XM18 or SBD Evo Typhoon in 20cv over Reeves S35vn at that price point.

The 25 has always caught my eye as a sharp knife though and not as plain as the 21. I'm sure I'll own one someday but I'm really hoping for a steel upgrade and perhaps some bearings in the coming years.

Sounds like you just don't have that intangible Chris Reeves worship syndrome. Doesn't the action feel like a smooth hydraulic mechanism and the whole knife's fit and finish make you gasp involuntarily when your eyes fall upon it?

There was a time when a lot of the sebenza features were just far superior to anything else out there at that price point, and full titanium scales with the frame lock were a rarity as was the BG42 steel, not a lot of other knives using it. Handling a sebenza then was a bit revelatory...Now I can't say I handled a ton of high end or custom knives at the time but I'd seen and handled a bit.

Then others started to catch up, and imitate or innovate...and since 2010 they are still nice knives but not really unique or leading the market in any way. Still a great solid knife, but the same can be had for much less. So many steels out there is is very hard to keep up. Gone are the days when your choices were pretty much 1095, AUS#, 440C, or ATS-34, with the very occasional tool steel making an appearance.

I like the Kizer made Lundquist Feist with all Ti scales as a nice gentleman's pocket knife/small chore knife. There are certainly things about it that ape sebenza features.

Agreed, I have a small sebenza in Damascus that I have carried before but since it was a bit pricey, I've been a lil reluctant to use it for everyday cutting tasks. It mostly stays home. I use my mini bugout instead when I want to carry a knife about that size. It is extremely light and the Axis lock is amazing.

CIVIVI Ortis. For me a perfect EDC. Light- 2.8 oz., black colored deep carry clip( very low key with jeans), rounded edges on handle, 3.2 inch clip point, flipper tab with great detents and good lock up, ceramic bearings , sharp and easy to sharpen 9CR steel, good quality build, all for under 45 bucks.

I have the CF Damascus model and it is definitely and nice smooth light little knife. Not replacing my Sinkevichs / 0456BW but growing on me. The first WE knife I gifted was the same price and the detent was not good. They figured it out.
