Howdy! Anybody find Tac powder to be temp sensitive? Haven't run into pressure problems(yet) but I notice groups opening up with sun climbing up. Shooting at burro cyn, temp up to 90° with some humidity...just like some opinions, thanks
While we're at it, opinions on weighed vs thrown charges, please Last edited by papaboomboom; 08-05-2022 at 1:50 PM.. |

Typical symptom of ball powder, for that reason I prefer a good stick powder, such as Varget & N140.
In my experiance using ball(w748&blc2) powder, groups open up starting in the 70degree range.

Why not just keep your rounds in a cooler?

You can't have a cooler on the firing line. This is nationals and they play by very strict rules to eliminate any unfair advantage.
At best you can keep it in a cooler in the shade then stage for your relay but as the ammo warms up now you will have a greater temp swing then if you just left it alone and shot your string at ambient. Remember, Nationals are decided by X count. Top level shooters are cleaning the targets and scored by X count. These guys are shooting within 1/2 MOA at 1000 yards. any flicker of a change in the load will show up on the target. Long range is about consistency and controlling the inconsistent. |
