Default ACOG alternatives

I’m looking for either an ACOG or something that is similar to it. Price range is between $1K-2K. It’s been a while since I’ve purchased an optic and I’m not up on the current offerings.

If an ACOG fits your needs buy an ACOG. Depending on the model they run between $900-$1500.

If you define your needs/wants (what rifle, range, type of shooting), there maybe a better alternative. Perhaps a lower mag (1-6x) range scope may fit.

If you are decided on the ACOG style optic, I would look at the Sig Bravo4

Wider field of view and slightly better eye relief than comparable 4x ACOGs.

Why do you want an ACOG instead of a variable power optic?

Thanks for the advice. I have a couple low power variable optics already and just want a solid and rugged 4x type optic for my AR.

I have an ACOG TA02 Led green horseshoe that I plan to post in the market soon. Brand new and includes the Trijicon marked Bobro mount along with the standards mount.

I'll put a good word in for the Primary Arms 3x or 5x prism scopes. The ACSS reticle is amazing, the scopes are extremely durable, more eye relief than an ACOG, and they're about a grand cheaper than an ACOG. If you need something where you don't have to worry about batteries for illumination and you need it to be always on, then buy an ACOG. Nobody else that I know of has a tritium/fiber optic illuminated reticle. Otherwise, you can probably save money and get something for a quarter of the price that will get the job done very well.

The Army has adopted the SIG Tango 6 1-6x for their DMR optic. Apparently they're durable. They have a horseshoe reticle.

There’s a TA-11F with a Bobro mount in the marketplace right now for 750 bucks. Smokin’ deal. I really want a TAO2 with the battery.

Caveat emptor on your ACOG choice. Guys buys them while not knowing exactly how to use the BAC reticle and just use it for a range rifle for sheets and giggles. Resulting in big disappointments.

I use TA33's & TA01 on my 556 rifles. Long eye relief is a big plus. No nose to the charging handle monkey business.

Depending on your needs you might be better served going the 1-6 power du jour or at least spend some time behind an ACOG to see if it's right for you.

Indeed, and they are at their lowest prices I've ever seen

My favourite is the Elcan Spectre OS 4x, althought there are several good options out there. I tested ACOG, Hensoldt, HAMR, Bravo4 and Elcan. On balance, I liked Elcan and Bravo4 the most.

Wouldn't get a fixed power 4x. EOTech has some nice LPVO in that price range.
