Default S&W 686 (2.5 in) IWB holster

I have a 2.5 inch S&W 686+ in jail. Can anyone recommend an IWB holster? It looks like Comp Tac doesn't sell revolver holsters anymore.

Default Galco

Here's an option: GALCO STO158B. Not expensive, light but sturdy, plastic clip to protect your belt. Available at Amazon so you check it out and return if it doesn't suit you.

Chinese made holster, floppy soft leather. No thanks.

I bought one of these for my 686, but sticking a gun that wide into my pants was just ridiculous so I sold the holster.

Default Umm...

Galco holsters have been made in the USA since 1969.

The leather is neither floppy, nor soft. It's a sort of stiff suede.

OP is looking to carry a 686. Sorry that didn't work out for you.

A 686 is an L frame. The holster you recommend is only for J frames.

I don’t think a 686 would work for me… but thats me… I’m a “glock hater” but find myself EDCing a G27. A lot of people would hate that option it works nice for me.

I gravitate towards MDJ holsters but I don’t think they make any for revolvers.

Craft is on my short list. I like the looks of the Tucker. Yes, that particular GALCO holster IS for a J-frame, but there are a couple other GALCOs that I am looking as well. I have a few GALCOs for other firearms and like them.

Knowing myself, I will probably end up getting a couple different holsters throughout the year - I think every gun that I own has at least two holsters (the holster addiction is just about as bad as the gun addiction).

I will definitely be carrying the 686 once I get it on my permit, but I seriously doubt it will be my EDC firearm (my GLOCK 19 has earned that spot right now).

I looked at the MD holsters, but you seem to be correct -all their pictures show semi-autos. I booked mark the page though just in case one of my other guns needs a new holster (you never know!)

Yea, keep the MDJ in mind. I like the leather on me and kydex on the gun. Sport the few bucks for adjustable retention.

This evening my son and I walked to dinner. Partway there we decided to jump an equestrian fence feet first “dukes of hazard” style..I didn’t even worry about my gun. I did worry about catching my foot on the top rail and face planting into the dirt… but not my holster LOL

Mitori is correct. This holster is wide enough for the cylinder, but provides no coverage for the trigger guard. Not useful for your gun.

LOL, I try that and holster retention would be the least of my problems!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I went with a Craft Holster. GALCO couldn't give me a straight answer about 2.5 inch bbls.

I also have a Craft holster for a 2.5" 686+ but prefer JustHolsterIt.com overall design.

There's something about the combo of leather and a wheel gun. Nice IWB holster. I'm very fond of TTGunLeather IWB holsters myself.

I called every gun store and pawn shop in San Diego. I found 2 at Royal Loan in San Diego. My first words to the guy were literally "don't laugh, but I'm looking for a 686 with a 2.5 inch barrel". His answer was "yep, we've got one!" Needless to say I ran right down and bought it!
