Default Mechanical Engineer looking for work

Hello everyone. I graduated in the spring with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and with how this economy has been, it has been brutal finding work, I have included my resume below for anyone who is interested, the formatting changed copying and pasting it here. Work experience not included due to not being relevant is Aflac (insurance salesman, April - September 2010), Home Depot (Lot Associate, January - July 2017), and Nordstrom (shipping, November 2021 - January 2022).

I live near Azusa but am willing to commute as far South as Irvine, as far North as Palmdale/Lancaster, as far East as Fontana, and as far West as Woodland Hills. Pretty much the entire LA Basin. I've been applying to pretty much every job I find, Mechanical, Project, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineering. I don't care if it's entry-level or management, or somewhere in-between, I just want a real job to start this near career.

Have you checked with any of the refineries in SoCal?
Chevron is looking for Operators and Machinist right now. Chances are, you could get on as an Equipment Engineer.

Search words like REFINERY, ROTATING EQUIPMENT, PETRO CHEMICAL

Try this web site, plenty of leads. Maybe not strictly your strengths but could not hurt.

Good Luck.

Another Mechanical Engineer... You shouldn't have much trouble getting a job. Make sure you advertise any software coding classes you may have had. Software Engineers don't exist thanks to the Silicon Valley Companies so a lot of other Companies are cross training to fill gaps.

Thank you, everyone, for the replies, I spoke with a member here who works for Northrop, and just received a PM from another member and both have made suggestions to refine my resume, I have included it below. I have refined my search towards more of a manufacturing engineer position as that is what plays to my strengths and experience.

I would love to relocate out of state but my wife is firmly planted here in the Pasadena area.

I don’t know what the deal is but I’ve applied to every open position I have found with everyone. Have been applying since last spring, no idea why I keep getting passed over. So frustrating as I just want to work.

Definitely get your resume down to one page KISS. It should be a quick read.

Since you are a recent grad, is your gpa higher than 3.0? If it is, put that on the resume. If it isn't, calculate the engineering class gpa.

Scotty, GPA of 2.6, just a hair over 3 looking at just engineering classes, maybe a 3.1 if I ignore the electrical and civil classes
