Default Manual can opener

Looking for a high quality manual can opener---many Chinese products out there, but quality is not so good in my opinion...

How about one of these?

I agree about the current crop of crappy Chinese can openers.

I keep these for camping and glove box etc... Have not managed to break one yet. Buy in bulk.

I've had good luck with the average winder styles. I can't remember the last time I bought one.

I have many P-51 openers all over. It is larger than the P-38, helps with my arthritis.

I still have and use the one on my key ring (a grenade pin ring), my old P51 from the Corps stamped US Kay 1962.

Neither have failed me yet.

Good luck on your quest OP. We have been using the side cutters for the last couple of years. Seem to last well so far. Jury is still out.

Respectfully
Kyle

Folding buck knife and a pair of kleins can open anything. Plus do surgery if you have hand sanitizer and a beer can. Some newspapers help. Most sterile paper available most times.

My lady likes the roll-seal splitter that cuts the edge of the can roll-seal, w/no jagged edges.

I used to hate it, but it is growing on me, even though I use the electric kitchen opener most of the time...

Edlund makes the best #10 can opener there is. Buy a couple extra set of gears and blades and you will be able to give it to someone in your will.

I agree, except for the can openers. I was burning through one every 6 months until I found an all metal one in the camping section.

These are great, available from Battery Junction, CTD, lots of places, can opener, bottle opener and spoon, larger for better leverage than the P-38, under $2 for a two pack.

As with most good things the company was sold and now produces an inferior product. A quick ebay search found many of the "vintage" made in USA models available for under $10 shipped.

This got my hopes up but the reviews on Amazon are't great. I think Ill buy a few of the old USA made swing-a-way from ebay and be done with it.
