Default Threads Started by an Ignored User

It would be nice if threads started by a user who you have ignored don't display for you.

If you hover over the title nothing will come up if it's one of your ignorees.

As well as when others quote the ignored person.

Empower yourself to ignore something without dependence on an "ignore" feature to do it.

Be the ignoring grace that you wish to see in the world.

Only you can prevent acknowledgement of those whom you wish to ignore.

However, don't worry; if you can't muster the temerity to ignore, I'm sure California legislators will soon enact a law that requires website forums to facilitate mandated ignore features to keep the "ignore-challenged" from being exposed to those atrocities of humanity that may cause them undue harm and to be offended so unkindly.

For that matter, I won't be offended if you put me on your ignore list.

It's OK, I'll manage.

Sorry, I don't see that as a valid comparison.

Also, your attempt to discredit my position using childish name calling is really not productive.

But you are being a complete moron. You want to install a feature that if it even exists, will take time out of the site managers day to code. Just so you won't get your panties in a bunch seeing someone on your crybaby list make a thread. Like the poster above you said, get over yourself and learn to move on.

You can easily resolve your own discomfort at seeing the authors name on the forum index under the thread title.

Simply use your mouse to move the little pointy thingy to the top right hand corner of your screen. Stop on the X

THEN CLICK IT

Your problem miraculously vanishes, and you are again at peace with the world.

Your Welcome.

I never suggested anything like you purport. I thought that there might be something configurable or something.

Just kidding, I didn’t really put you on ignore.

I do have to ask, what did somebody say that was sooooo bad that you don’t even want to see their thread titles?

This is a serious question. I do want to know.

I did not put you on ignore either. It actually takes a lot for me to consider doing that.

In short: it was something involving human waste processes in the title of the thread. I pondered about whether I really needed to be reading about that on this forum. So, I tried ignoring them, because that works with some forum software, it hides the entire thread. But, it does not work here, so *here* we are.

Consider the matter closed.

I defend the right for everyone to speak their piece, so I don't put them on "ignore". If I don't like what someone is saying, I can either respond with my displeasure, or just not respond at all. No need for "ignore".

On the very rare occasion I DO put someone on ignore, it's just temporary.

The ignore list can be a very useful tool for when you don't want to listen to certain people spew the same ignorant shullbit day after day.

If they could somehow separate OT threads from actual gun-related threads on the “New Posts” list, it would solve problems like this, and it would dramatically increase participation in Calguns by the California gun community, as well. I’ve often asked regulars at my local ranges if they are members on Calguns. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard avid gun enthusiasts say they avoid Calguns for the very reason you describe (as well as similarly inane discussion topics found here).

You actually can do that... I donít remember how but it can be done, a small modification to your search.

You can also ask admins to exclude you from the OT which works too.

You can directly PM any Ivan or Kest with such a request or do as I did which is more of a round about method but just as effective. And if you do feel the urge to participate in pointless arguments with idiots, you can always log on to FB or twitter.

I understand that. Myself, I choose not to read it, but I most CERTAINLY understand why people DO place some others under ignore.

Consider the matter closed.
Spend more time on gun topics and in the gun forums - (i.e., you know, the primary reason Calguns.net exists?) instead of fiddly-farting around in the Off-Topic forum, which for that matter, was the primary reason the Off-Topic forum was created, to appease those who spend the majority of their time talking about fiddly-farting and discourage them from stinking up the gun forums.

Do that, and THEN you can justly consider the matter closed.

OP if you're on the normal version (not iphone etc) you can set a bookmark that works pretty well to "exclude" OT etc (any forum you want to add really).

https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=159,73,441

Works pretty good most of the time to bypass most of the garbage content.

How are you 'listening' to them?

You are reading what they have to 'say'. How are you so forced to read what certain people spew that you consider to be the same ignorant shullbit day after day?

It's even more of a bizarre, masochistic act if you are in fact clicking on their threads to do that. That gets 2 confused smiley awards....

I'm not talking about willingly clicking on a thread that somebody already on my ignore list has started. Obviously I avoid them. I'm talking about the same people popping up all over the place with the same "if you don't think like me, you're the enemy" attitude. Believe it or not, not everybody on Calguns is a Trump supporting, anti-Democratic party, Molon Labe following, "pry it out of my cold, dead hands" gun owner. And I'm sure you probably think I should be. I actually have very few people on my ignore list, and they're mostly the ones who make racist, or sexist, or otherwise (to me) offensive comments. I should probably just stick with the gun related forums, but even then, the same people seem to feel the need to jump in and make any topic political.
