IMO, there no reason to carry side arm when hunting with rifle. Only time I carry either a 357mag or my sub compact 9mm is when I go to pack meat out.
Now if we are in Griz country, I might have to get that 500 SW, or at least as a minimum some hot hard cast 357 loads.
