Default where do you source your desktop tower build parts?

i'm considering building a tower sooner than waiting for BF2020. i can't even play gopro videos hevc format on 2014 my xps 15 that has a gpu already. even at max RAM and nothing open (sans TSRs) video won't play.

i may go thru the ryzen route for my build (have only had 1 amd processor eons ago and most towers i built were intel based). aside from water cooling and super huge coolers fans with fans at many sides of a tower, and rbg, pretty such same old same old on putting one together. graphics cards really have grown from early two 2000s.

would prefer if there's still sourcing that won't charge tax (becoming less and less). most youtubers seems to source a lot from amazon now. newegg was my other go-to, aside from ebay. bh photo also carries components now past their dslr/video variety though pricing-wise.. meh..

a coworker used http://pcppartpicker.com/ for his last build during BF.

Pricewatch.com is a good one. Been using them for years.

Be careful with FleaBay and Amazon nowadays. There are a lot more vendors selling faked product than there used to be. Some sellers are still legut, but Caveat Emptor.

For tower cases, and optical drives, I get those locally. Fry's should have a good selection.

Newegg.com, but http://pcppartpicker.com/ will link to where to buy the parts. Just double check the pricing.

Newegg definitely.

With eBay and Amazon, even amazon fulfilled, It’s too possible you’ll get items previously returned from other customers.

And look into Noctua cpu coolers. They are e best and out perform water coolers in almost all scenarios. Lots of YouTube tests on them. Great coolers.

newegg for research, then price shop once i have a part number picked.

Newegg runs an ebay store as well, sometimes a good discount without worrying about counterfeit items

I often find parts at microcenter if you are local to them.

Aside from that newegg is where i order online. If you know what your looking for Ebay works as well.

I tend to buy my mobo's new and shop around for a good price on cpu, unless you don't mind paying new prices.

I feel Ryzen is a good way to go. I typically stay with Intel due to the power usage. But the Ryzen price to performance value can't be beat at this time.

My next build will be with a Ryzen setup.

I use Newegg, if for nothing else, customer service.

Amazon or eBay, good luck in getting any service if there's an issue.

When I lived in West Covina, I was about 10 min away from the newegg warehouse where they do will call pick up for free. Was really awesome picking up my gear for free 30 minutes after ordering.

Most of my Ryzen 9 gaming rig parts were purchased from Newegg.

good to know newegg looks to still be a go-to place. microcenter is just too far from me. i also agree on amazon stuff possibly being fake. i see things like iridium sparkplugs being compared though very hard to spot.

i figure with amazon, doesn't work - return and exchange. i can probably support some youtube channels using their links for posting reviews and what not (did the like / subscribe already).

Been a long time since I was buying pc parts, but Newegg.com was always my favorite.

Mostly Newegg, Sometimes BHPhoto, and for common stuff like SSDs and flash drives Best Buy usually has great prices (surprisingly).
I generally don't trust Amazon for highly counterfeit items like drives. Their prices have been less competitive lately as well.

Have you walked into a Fry's lately? A Venezuelan supermarket on payday has more inventory on their shelves.

NewEgg, Mwave, and Amazon

There are other places that have more specialized things like custom cabling, but that depends on the project.
