Default School me on mouse pads...

Generally I like the thin, dense-foam mouse pad (not the cushy-thick foam ones), but since I am playing a game or two now, aggressive mouse usage has the pad sliding around, and I can't get it to stay put.

I recall using plastic cutting-board-style mouse pads, but I don't know where it went in my last move.

What are the thin-dense-foam pads called?

How do you keep yours from scooching around?

EDIT: I did come across this, but I am not sure I want the mouse pad stuck to my desk perm.:

You need to upgrade your mouse, I haven't used a mousepad in 20 years.

What I have done in the past is gotten one of those oven-lining sheets and stuck it to my desk surface. Sliding your palm across the wood surface repeatedly for gaming can get annoying and leave the desktop filthy. Something like these things: https://www.amazon.com/Teflon-Nonsti...roducts&sr=1-1

I don't game but I use one of these.

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=xtracpads...l_9ost73dkaa_p

Has a non-slip rubber back and the pattern on the mouse side is geared for optical mice.

Had it for years.

I neglected to mention my desk is glass...
And even a shiney slick (polished slick from use) wood surface, or stainless surfaces can be an issue with industry standard optical mice, so I never thought to try with this rodent directly on the glass.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You can get giant mouse pads off Ebay that are 18" long, and 12" wide. Set your computer on one end, and use the other side. This is what I do. The one I have, is rubberized. They're about $10.

I don't use them. They're unnecessary.

I like them most of the time, as my mouse stays a little cleaner, and steadier. I use $15 mice from Logitec, because you can program several mice, into one fob.

I use the Corsair MM350 for gaming. Decent size, super grippy on the back. It’s true what the other people say that you don’t technically need one, but that’s a weird thing to say because mousepads are so cheap and if you’re gaming (as you said you are) it really can’t hurt to have one. Love my Corsair—it was $15 and it’s super comfy to game on.

Apparently on Glass or stainless steel (unless brushed?), industry standard optical rodents are non-functional.
Middle-road Wyse, or Logitech mice anyway.

I mean, if you want to be obtuse about it then the implied solution is that you can get away with something like an 8.5x11 sheet of printer paper so the mouse has an easier time of tracking. Or you could buy a $15 mousepad and be done with it.

You are right, and they do at work on the stainless work surfaces...

Hell, right now I have mine pseudo-taped to the desk, but it is a used pad for like 5+ years, so it is too grimy to let the tape stick...
But then again, can someone answer these?
I recall using plastic cutting-board-style mouse pads, but I don't know where it went in my last move.

What are the thin-dense-foam pads called vs. what are the thicker sponge-pad ones called?

What are the thin cutting-board hard-ish plastic mouse pads called?

google silicone baking sheets or pastry mats, dishwasher safe when they get gunky and they don't slip, cut down to the size or shape you want or use the whole thing.
