Sorry to hear, that's a big bummer :-(

I did not have any issues with any of the five I listed on my application nor any of the three that ended up on my training certificate.

Hope you get it all sorted in short order.

That's good info, thanks! I'd still be just a bit worried about the highly zealous DA's we have in the City regardless of what SFPD says.

And the plot thickens. I went into CFARS to see if I could update the address for the guns that are supposedly missing from AFS to see if they were truly missing from my report. I was able to update 2 of the 3, so there's no reason those 2 shouldn't have been on my report...

I ended up putting in update requests for every gun I have that should be in the system, and found that 7 were missing, including the G27 I had wanted to put onto the permit.

In regards to over-zealous DAs, the magazine capacity is least of your concerns. Putting the Punisher symbol on your firearm will get you in more trouble with the DA than a legally owned magazine. And I've seen them come through our classes. We always recommend people remove them from any firearm you going to use for defensive purposes.

Yes, similar but not due to them showing up. One of my guns that I planned to use a lot was my M&P compact 2.0. I traded someone for it and when I got it, it was a .40 S&W and was DROSd as such. I converted it to a 9mm due to me not shooting .40 as much or at all. Lt said because the caliber does not match what is on AFS, I cannot use it or have it on my permit until I make changes on CFARs or update it somehow. Ive heard CFARs takes over a year to update, so im not sure of a quicker way.

Question: Does anyone know what report I used to update the caliber?

Just got the letter telling me I can move forward with training.

I'm planning to sign up with Execushield because they offer weekday classes...but I haven't been able to find any other information or reviews on their CCW classes other than the schedule. Has anyone had any experience with them? It seems like they're more about guard training. It doesn't appear anyone has signed up yet for the next three classes on their schedule, and I'd hate for them to cancel the class last minute for lack of interest.

Good to hear. I haven?t seen Execushield on approved list; must be new addition.

I went with Defensive Accuracy (no affiliation) during weekday, they have another 16 hour weekday session in Richmond on 6/21, 6/22.

Nonsense, they are choosing to not help you. My CCW permit (not EssEff) has had gun model, serial number and ".40/9mm" on it for many years.

They let you qual from a AIWB? I thought it was only OWB?

The training class required OWB only (pretty much every training vendor has the same requirements for safety reasons) but SFPD requires applicants to qualify with the holster you will be using to carry, so they had me qualify AIWB although all other applicants from other counties in my class qualified OWB.

Do you know if DACCW allows you to use a different gun for the training portion that isn't one of the guns you're qualifying with? I'd hate to have to buy an OWB holster that I'll never end up using when I can just use a different gun I do have an OWB holster for.

I don?t know the specific answer but you are required to bring in all your guns the first day so they can verify make/model/serial matches what you will be qualifying with.

I ended up buying an OWB which I?ll probably never use either; I never thought of using a gun I have already an OWB holster for

However, give them a quick ring to make sure, they are very responsive.

Did EssEff happen to mention if you change holsters later- do you have to notify them and requalify?

You can change holsters later without notifying or re-qualifying.

FYI I was perusing through the May RRGC bulletin and noticed that DACCW is offering discounted pricing of $229 for RRGC members through July. That's a hell of a deal.

Wow! If you include the annual RRGC membership fee, it?s still less than the cost of their regular 16 hour class, which incidentally has gone up to $399 since I took it.

Damn, wish I had seen that!

We allow IWB or OWB - in actuality, we prefer our students have an IWB since that's the most concealable way to carry a firearm and most likely the way most people will carry it.

It does not matter what holster you use or what modifications you make to your firearm as long as the training vendor verifies that your firearm is in good working order.

Tell your friends to come train with us for their CCW - we allow (and prefer) IWB holsters, our lecture is completely digital so you can do it from home and save time, and we meet every two weeks for in person training and qualification.

I have your class and qualification next week. Cant wait for that. Virtual instruction was very good and definitely worked around my busy schedule.
