I only ever use a choke for turkey hunting. The rest of the time I just have the stock cylinder (or maybe it's modified, I forget) choke in my Benelli. Then again I don't usually shoot clays or birds other than turkeys

yeah I could.... no worries though.... this was supposed to be an HD gun.... now it is just something I have....

I just realized how old this thread is, I was thinking you just brought this thing home today haha... so you probably have a decent handle on it at this point

The long barrel should be fine for clays or bird hunting. Turkey or geese, you may need a extra full or full choke. If it really bothers you, eBay has barrels with removable choke tubes all the time in the $100 range. And you can sell your long barrel for around $80 or so and get most of your money back.

Post #39 is spot on regarding all the after market stuff. Buy ammo instead. Do a search for a barrel that works on your 500 with screw in chokes. they're out there. You will enjoy your new shotgun more. If I see something of a barrel, I'll let you know, if you're interested.
E-bay has tons of them. With chokes.
