Default I got another shotgun Today!

Hey all,

Purchased a 590A1 retrograde today. Have been wanting a pump for a while and I have always loved the look on the retrogrades. Well, one of the LGS had it on sale for $899 and i had to have it.

I already have a 930SPX that I listed in the marketplace. It works like a champ but don't really see a need for 2 shotguns (i barely shot the 930, maybe around 75 rounds total).

So you guys have any upgrade ideas to the 590A1? Any pics of yours?

Thanks!

LOVE my 590A1 Retrograde!

Went into my LGS looking for a vanilla 590A1 with a bead sight (love that bead sight), but fell in love with this beast. Had to have it!

I haven't done any modifications to it - sort of like it how it is. If I did, I'd probably add a shell side saddle and sling. Also, add a bayonet, cuz reasons

The heavy wood furniture makes it pleasant to shoot even heavy loads - including 3" magnum slugs. With that super heavy A1 barrel, you can put anything down the tube with confidence.

Enjoy! It's a hell of a shotgun!

Awesome and congrats! I don't have the Retrograde version, but have a 590A1 and it's a beast!

Only thing I'd do to upgrade that Retrograde is pop on a Brownells Enhanced Safety Button, a sling, and call it a day.

Unfortunately the Remington's of today aren't the Remington's of yesteryear. But, if you can snag an old school Wingmaster or Police model, you've got a good piece.

Mossberg is still producing extreme high quality shotguns, however.

Put a light and ammo side saddle on it. I have slings on my shotguns as well.

M9 bayonet is optional zombie skull splitter.

There's always a good reason to buy another shotgun. Someday soon you may not be able to buy them.

I was going to say try the Magpul Furniture, but since you've got a Retro that kind of defeats the purpose of having the wood furniture. Everyone I've seen at Front Sight has ran well and doesn't look to be too bad "Recoil wise" with Low Recoil Ammo. They are heavier than My M500's by about a pound and a half.

Must tell you that shooting any of these guns very much with High Base rounds is going to hurt you. You really don't need the extra power unless you are shooting some Big Animal that can bite you. IN that case I would recommend Brenneke Slugs. They have one 3" that launches a 1 1/2 oz slug at 1600 fps and will knock down anything on the planet, including most light pickup trucks.

In my last class the kid next to me had one like yours and he was laying on the ground during the sighting in portion of the class shooting 3" 1 1/4 oz slugs at 1600+ fps to get his sights adjusted. He was getting the ship beat out of him!

Since he was laying on the ground prone there was no place for the recoil to go but strait back into his shoulder,,, which also had no place to go. After 6 or 8 shots he was hurting big time and his shoulder was red/black. I gave him one of my Low Recoil Slugs to shoot and after that he was permanently cured of 3" slugs. He ran to the Ammo Bunker and bought some like mine.

There is nothing you will encounter that will live thru a low recoil slug or buckshot, except your shoulder. No need to punish yourself with the heavy stuff unless you really need it, and after a few hundred rounds of shooting and learning the gun, you will be much more capable of absorbing the heavy recoil form a few heavy loads than you are now. It is a learned thing..

Bayonet. Because there’s a lug for it and you don’t want to NOT have a bayonet.

A Bayonet could come in handy in the upcoming Civil War.

Fools on the left actually think they'll win that one?

As those on the left say, hard to beat nukes and hellfire missiles with a gun or a bayonet.

Yeah,,, and like they could ever use them? You have to be able to fly in order to use these weapons and nobody on the left is smart enough to fly an F15 or launch a Nuke Missile. Biden would have to have Jill to help him punch in the launch codes. Then he'd probably set the target coordinates to DC ! He ain't too smart,,, you know.

As it sits 85% of the Military and 70% of Law Enforcement is with us. and those numbers are going up every day.

The Brown Coat Tactical Side Saddles are so tight that they don't loose rounds. They are hard to get the shells into in the first place.

I have ran them extensively and the only problem I have is that they are difficult to get the shells out of because they are so tight.

On Select Slug Drill I pull the front round down to where only half of it is in the loop. I grab it with my thumb and ring finger which transitions to the 4 finger hold which allows the easiest alignment with the Loading Port or Ejection Port depending on the condition of your gun..

I have some cheapy ones from China that were about $2 each and they will drop rounds, but the good ones from BCT don't. I use the cheap ones for holding my Dry Practice Dummy Rounds, and carrying extra rounds on the outside of my range bag. I attach them to the Velcro normally used for Moral Patches on my LAPG Range Bags.

I do most all of my Shotgun Dry Practice with Dummy Rounds reloaded with "Cream of Wheat" and a "Dead Primer" in "Dedicated Hulls" that don't look like any of my live rounds.

Just curious, what is wrong with 930 auto to make you spend $1k OTD to buy a pump?

Nothing wrong with the 930, just doesn't tickle my fancy anymore. I really like the look of the retrograde and figured if I'm going to spend the money, I'd get the 590A1. I could've got the 500 retro for a littler less coin but buy once cry once.

930 spx is a solid performer and truth be told, I'm reluctant to let it go. But the safe is full so alas it must go...
