Default Questions on Army Med Board.....

Hello, anyone on here familiar with the process for Army Med Board? I have to go to Ft Irwin next month to do my first steps for the process.

My questions are:

1. How does the process go from start to finish? My Co told me to self register at walter reed, make an appt for eval, then they will sign memos.

2. I already have a VA rating and I am satisfied where it is at. Will going through Med Board affect my VA rating negatively?

Thank you

1. If you have an injury that requires a profile, AMEDD folks will make recommendations for treatment. If you do not get better despite following medical advice, they will consider recommending you to a Med Board. Thatís pretty much it. You can request a Med Board, but itís up to medical to decide if you merit one, not them soldier him/herself.

2. VA ratings have absolutely no impact on Army ratings. I am RC and many, many of the soldiers I evaluate are 100% SC for various VA disabilities which do not limit their ability to serve in any fashion (mild tinnitus, mild ankle, knee, hip, neck pain, etc.). The Army does not care about your VA rating.

3. I know nothing about severance pay. I do know that if you earn money from the Army that your VA disability payment is reduced by that amount until you no longer earn money in the Army.
