Lot of angry people with empty wagons and hand carts !

Crowd was sparse!

Atlantis has signs all over stating " Absolutely no firearms in hotel & casino".
Atlantis better beef up security in their parking lot then.. More automobile break ins during these shows?? I ignore the signs...at least with a hangun or folding stock rifles.

Just got back. No big ammo vendors but I decided to try the Grizzly ammo. They are based out of Oregon. Show is about half the size it was when it was at the GSR. Very disappointing. From what I understand, Miwall went to a show in Arizona instead.
On a side note, I was not stopped for bringing ammo into the state on the way back.

Weather looks marginal so not sure I am going.

I'm going. Will be interesting, as newly elected Nevada democrats are going after our gun rights. New governor is totally anti gun, as he stated he will sign background check law that requires background checks for private party sales, and even for "loaning" a gun to a friend or relative. The governor said that even before debate and discussion on the matter with the State Assembly.

Over 10 round magazines, registration, and AWB are next. There might be a run for weapons potentially banned. I expect higher prices.

Very sad to see that happen to a free state. I know Bloomberg said he wanted to go after Nevada by funelling millions of dollars to support anti gun liberals for elected office. Looks like he succeded for the short term anyway.

Don't waste your time going to The Big Reno Show! Half the size, no ammo, and lots of jewelry vendors. Most of the usual venders did not setup.

What's the "slow walk through" time on the show?

This is the 1st show I haven't gone to on a Friday, am heading up early Saturday and planned on staying overnight - buffet, sports book smoking a cigar & having a few beers - then home Sun afternoon.

I've started liking Willey Bros, bought a few C&Rs there last trip.

I have traded emails with one of the guys that usually has a table and he canceled last week due to the expected weather. I looked a 80 last night and decided against going figuring it was going to be a smaller show and the traffic over 80 would not be fun.

My personal opinion is the promoter setup the show just too early in the year. We went from April a few years ago , to March and now February. Hopefully he has learned from this and it won't happen again.

Took me 40 minutes to go through the whole show, and that was talking to people too. Used to take me ALL DAY!

You can see LOT's of jewelry vendors if your into that.

Show is small but quite a few C&R rifles and pistols. Stop by the CRPA booth and sign up if you are not a member or extend your membership. $20 raffle ticket gets you a knife and an entry to win a Springfield XD.

Passed on this show but may attend the show in August.
The Big Reno Show has always been a show that draws a large number of CA residents, that is why the CRPA is there recruiting members, besides, you don't have to be a CA resident to enter the raffle for a XD, lots of Nevada people were entering. It seems that they don't have a problem being seen supporting the CRPA.

I'm pretty glad overall I did not attend with poor quality of the show and the weather. Was Miwall not there again? Was any major ammo vendor there? How was the attendance?

Weather was fine on Saturday. Attendance was slow in the morning, but picked up later in the day. No major ammo vendors. From what I understand, the promoter pissed off Miwall big time and the have said that they will never do another Big Reno show as long as the same promoter is running it.
Not a bad selection of C&R rifles and pistols, some even reasonably priced.

The Gold and Silver dealer's are starting to outnumber (close) the gun dealers. It's getting silly if you ask me.

Oh and it's rumored that the promoter is filing for bankruptcy as well.

I went up Saturday morning - left SF about 7:30 am, got there about 11:00 am and did a walk through. Was a little surprised when I checked my watch and it was a bit after noon. Wandered around, got some odds & ends. Saw alot of "maybe I'll buy that ..." C&Rs - H&R 32 auto-loader, Browning 1922, Colt 1908. Ended up going back Sunday and grabbed a Savage 340B in 22 Hornet. Found out the seller is from Springfield, OR - just bought a place in Grants Pass, so I guess I'll visit from time to time.

Way too many non-gun tables. And definitely smaller, alot of familiar faces weren't there. I was told some of them went to the St Louis show, don't know much about that venue. But overall I had a good time.

I am not expecting much for this show since it is a holiday weekend ( what in the world is the promoter thinking ??) I didn't make it to the last one do to all the snow over 80.

Reno convention center July 5 - 7

Wait for August.

https://newfrontiershow.com/index.ph...reno-gun-show/

The same promoter that was going to buy the Big Reno Show but figured why take on all the problems Lou created, so he is starting this show. Hopefully it works out, we’ll see.

Nah, hasn't changed in decades. Those old timers just go there to set up their tables and flap their gums all day. It's 100% of their social lives.

But, they always have some interesting things to say and add to the character of a gun show.

Holiday weekend would seem counterintuitive. Then again, with the CA ammo situation it might be a bit more crowded than usual.

I'll be in OR Thurs & Fri. Will hit Reno via Rte 89 coming off Rte 5. I like the drive. I have a USFA Bisley that I'll probably use to put together a few trading $$$ on.

Well Miwall is not at the show and don't know of another ammo vendor at the show so the ammo buyer will need to hit Cabela's or Sheel's ( if they have a C&R and COE)

So curious,
Does C&R with COE exempt you from the new ammo laws?
As in you can buy ammo out of state and bring it back to Ca.

Well one last BIG Reno show for me at the convention center next weekend. Considering that the one in July was just dismal this might be the last one for me. I know a couple of vendors that I have traded emails with about going to the show and this is also their last show and will be moving to the New Frontier show next March.

So with all of that said .......... anyone else going

I'll take any reason to get out of the city for a weekend.

The March 2020 "Big Reno" show is being held at the Nugget. It's also the first one being held under NV UBC requirements. A bit of "good news bad news". Shouldn't affect CA buyers, but the "scare factor" may have an impact on us using C&R FFLs to buy the older stuff. I'm not looking forward to trying to convince a nervous NV seller that I really can use my C&R to buy a 1970's made Colt SAA 2nd gen when his fellow NV residents have to go through an FFL.

I'll go to the New Frontier show too. Heard he has some good vendors, but his show this year wasn't well attended by customers. Might be the newness factor.

Well I went to the Big Reno at the nugget and was pleasantly surprised. I was really torn about going since the last several have been dismal. It had the GSR feel ( mixed drinks vendor right next to guns) and maybe 60% it's former size but I actually enjoyed this show.

The show was pretty big but the thing that sucks is it’s divided by 2 rooms instead of everything in one room

It was in two rooms at the Hilton/GSR, although they were connected by a shorter walkway.

I went to the smaller room first, thought that was all of it and was ready to do a quick turnaround. Glad I explored a little. As it turns out, the only gun I bought was a High Standard Model G 380 I found earlier in the smaller room.

Ride up Saturday AM was a little slow due to snow. Coming back to SF was OK, bit more snow.

I hope the summer show picks up.

So I went yesterday and it was OK , but not nearly as big or as good as the old days at the grand Sierra. Bought a couple of odds and ends but lots of high priced 1911's. Cheapest I saw was a bubbed 1911a1 that had been blued for $1500. Still better than any CA show.
