So I'm working on my new AR-9 and had planned on using my Odin Works O2-Lite handguard. But, apparently it doesn't fit flush with my billet upper. I have other handguards I could use with this upper and put the O2 on a different build.
Would you use a different handguard? Would you buy an Odin Works upper that would work with their O2 handguard? ![]() ![]() Sent from my BE2026 using Tapatalk |

Billet uppers often have issues with hand guards and fitment.
That would probably bug me too.

I would fix it. Can you take some material off the handguard adapter or receiver, so that it screw onto the receiver further.

Would bother me. 2 options, new upper or new hanguard. Was the upper a match to the lower? If so I'd get same manufacturer handguard. Otherwise I'd get Odin upper receiver.

The upper isn't a perfect match to the lower but they do match up pretty nicely. I went with this upper to save some money, got it on sale for $50. The Odin upper is pretty expensive, and is currently OOS.

Unfortunately not.

Is the lower also billet? How does a standard upper match up to your lower?
If a standard upper matches well with your lower, I would just swap it out and use a standard upper. They are cheap, and that would solve the gap issue.

I really want to use this handguard as the whole point to the build was to be lite weight. EDIT: I just found this Anderson upper with no forward assist and dust cover. https://www.omegamanufacturinginc.co...mfg-upper.html Last edited by morrcarr67; 08-06-2022 at 5:51 AM.. |

Well, I put on the other handguard and really liked the way it lined up with this upper. It's not as light as the O2-LITE, but it's not bad. The O2-LITE weighs 5.6 oz without the hardware and the Dirty Bird weighs 8.9 oz without the hardware. I didn't weigh them with the hardware but they both use aluminum barrel nuts.
Now to put the lower together. ![]() Sent from my BE2026 using Tapatalk |
