Count me in for the next clean/shoot/clean meet! Don't have many tools but I have shovels, rakes, trash bags, guns, ammo, and a 2wd Dodge Durango that fits 7! Please keep me posted...

Thanks to Musick and all the other Calgunners out there contributing!

Cheers,
Mark

I've got about 3 Calgunners and some newer shooters joining me for a clean up this Saturday, 11/23. We plan to head out to pink gate but none of us have been there before. If anybody who knows the way for sure wants to join us, we'd be much appreciative. Please PM me if interested.

Im From Oceanside and went shooting with my dad and little brother today in Perris blm. We hauled out a few heafty bags worth of trash. I'm in for a San Diego clean up, I had no idea we even had any blm that's close to me.

I'm available those weekends and am willing to help out. I don't have a truck, only a 2 wheel drive car. If its a problem, maybe I can hitch a ride.

Please let me know where and when. Thanks.

Always wanted to do one of these when I had some spare time.

However after watching all the harassment at Glamis last weekend, (the BLM must have made millions on that weekend alone by harassing everyone trying to have a good time) I'm out. Confiscating peoples fuel jugs because they were not in spill-proof containers, giving indecent exposure tickets to people going to the bathroom behind their trailers etc, impounding peoples ATV's Bikes and Buggys who forgot to register their stuff while it was sitting over the summer etc. They can suck it. Hell I got popped for improper display of my $150 permit because I didn't want to permanently stick it to my Dad's truck I was borrowing. Now I need another $150 sticker for my own truck since they forced me to apply the sticker while the ranger had her hand on her pistol while she watched me do it.

BLM is RICH! they can go clean up their own ****, that's what we are paying them for.

I completely understand your frustration! I have been going to the desert for around twenty years, but don't go nearly as often as I used to due to the harassment. Believe me, I get it! That being said...

BLM is not obligated to clean up the mess left by irresponsible shooters. Frankly, we aren't obligated to go out there to clean up after them either, but the alternative is losing one of the few remaining public areas in San Diego county that is open to target shooting. The choice is yours.

I get it but everything you stated that people got busted for was for breaking the law and I'm sure there was some discretion used on the indecent of exposure. I went to clean up BLM simply because I want to keep a place to shoot that is close to home and not a two hour drive.

So everyone in the desert got busted for all the things they weren't supposed to be doing?that has nothing to do with those of us that are obeying the rules and trying to keep what little we still have available open. We clean the spots for us , not for them. It's like getting mad for getting caught using tannerite ( which you aren't supposed to use on blm land)

I completely understand where he is coming from; sheriff and BLM can be absolute pricks out there (Glamis). It's not unusual for them to give you a hard time, even when you aren't doing anything wrong. I've been there.

The thing that everyone needs to keep in mind, is that LE's behavior out in Glamis, and our efforts to keep OUR land out here open to shooters, are two completely separate issues.

I'd totally take you up on that, but I picked up that flu bug that's going around. Trust me, you don't want this!

ETA: If I'm feeling better tomorrow, I'll hit you up. Likely sometime in the afternoon.

Any chance that we might have an all day event (cleanup, potluck shooting)like the guys up north? Are propane grills allowed on blm?

I have considered doing something similar. Maybe it's time to do a little more planning! I'll have to double check on the use of grills out there. There may be seasonal restrictions that will need to be taken into consideration. Thanks for bringing it up, it would be fun!

From my understanding one needs is a permit which can be obtained here:

http://www.preventwildfireca.org/Campfire-Permit/

Additional info here:

http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/info/iac...repermits.html

With that said, it would be prudent to contact the local office to ensure additional safety restrictions are not in effect in SD.

Id be down for such an event!

My idea would be to smoke up a couple of pork butts for something like this. They could come off the smoker right before we head out there and would still be hot by the time we eat. Hmmm...

I went out Monday to one of the lower spots and it was trashed. Hauled out a TV, some metal, bunch of clays, oh-and a boat load of brass. Almost felt like I got paid for my volunteer work.

I have a gas grill if we set something up, someone with a truck would have to pick it up cause my POS ranger won't make it.
