Default CA320 on Roster

Hey Calguns. I haven't posted in a while, but you are not forgotten. We have been working on the following program for over a year, and it seems to have fallen into place right before SHOT Show:

https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/handgun/ca320

We will have more information shortly in an official press release.

They're going to launch it next week at SHOT.

But, my best guess is that it's a Bolt Action Repeating Pistol based on the Sig Sauer P320 Modular Chassis design.

Very similar to their Bolt Action Repeating AR pattern pistols.

The CA DOJ BOF position on modifying SSE2 pistols does not apply to on-Roster manually operated repeating pistols, which means an on-Roster bolt-action repeating pistol can legally be made into a CA legal semi-auto pistol.

Indeed.

AB1964 - which IIRC became active in 2014 - basically said SSE couldn't apply to
'born as semiauto' pistols - making them untransferrable from new dealer stock to
a California resident.

AB1964 changed *nothing else* (incl single action revolver matters).

An originally non-semiauto pistol is not banned from transfer, and you can modify
such into other alternate forms of operation [outside other illegal forms like MG/
SBR/SBS/AW etc.] once you own it. (This also assumes that the relevant serialized
frame was never operated in semiauto mode as part of mfg QA, etc.)

I hope Franklin Armory can also do this with the Sig P365 platform. Personally, I’m far more interested in the P365 than the P320.

How is it determined which make and model(s) get bumped off the roster first when a new approved model is added?

This gun won't knock anything off the list. In order to be knocked off the list it has to be semi automatic with a loaded chamber indicator, magazine disconnect, micro stamping. I seriously doubt this would qualify as that so it won't knock anything off the list which is actually a great thing! I already have my order lined up and ready to go for shot show and hope to be the first dealer in California to have these things ready for customers to buy!! Let's goooooo

That’s what I thought as well initially but didn’t find the correct verbiage in the law when I was looking.

Very interested in this!

Although our household already has two 9mm p320.

I realize the 9MM is going to be more marketable initially but I’m hoping Franklin does a 10mm too.

A 10mm p320 is what I seek.
To replace my POS 20sf which is the suckage.

Even though the roster is likely on its way out, we should remember who our friends are and were throughout the CA gun ordeal. FA has been around, on our side and "sticking it to the man" since the beginning.

Thank you Franklin Armory.

Yes!

I bought 2 CA7 from them.

Haven’t even gotten around to “configurating” the second one yet L O L.

As mentioned we already have a couple P320 in 9 mm but if Franklin does a 10mm I am on board. Hell might even buy another 9 mm.

100%, already have some p320s, and that's more than I'll ever need, but will definitely buy an FAone both because loophole guns are interesting to me, and FA deserves a few of my dollars for their efforts.

Excited to see how they wiggled their way around the roster, guess I should swing by their booth next week.

Wow this is pretty awesome. I wonder how many P320 FCUs they were able to source from Sig. There's gonna be a huge demand for them.

I bet a P365 version will be released next year.

So, FA will get un-assembled FCU from Sig, assemble it with their grip module as single shot or whatever is right terminology is and it is all need to satisfy roster. Nice done!

Hmm

I wonder if one’s IA(In my case Ventura County Sheriff)Cares if one of the pistols on my CCW that’s Drosed to me as a single shot now functions semiautomatically?

Don’t ask don’t tell lol.

That’s tempting but I would probably ask.
About a caliber change also while I’m doing it.
