Default Lower Assembly Party

I haven’t built a lower in 10 years, and have two that need assembly. Anyone in the San Diego area building some in the near future and want to have an assembly “party”. Happy to bring food/drinks in exchange for someone’s knowledge and experience making sure all goes together well.

I was under the impression you could build out a properly DROSed/registered lower if you follow all rules are regulations (mag locked or featureless). If not, would appreciate guidance.

Yeah, you can definitely get together with your buddies and build those.

I think the person must’ve been thinking of the 80% build parties that were demonized.

Youtube could be a great build instructor. It's simple by following the vids.

It's a lot easier if you have the right tools. Couple of starter punches, and set of roll pin punches with a small hammer will do it. A tool to tighten the buffer tube nut also. Maybe have a little duct tape handy so the lower isn't scratched when installing the magazine catch pin.
Only concern these days would be liability. Even though it's legal, etc - if anything happens down the road lawyers look for anyone involved.
Brownell's has a small series that goes step by step. You might take a look there.

I built my first lower about 5 years ago. I had no clue what to do and I was too embarrassed to ask other people for help. So, I looked around online and tried to work out how to do it myself.

This website was a huge help: https://www.pewpewtactical.com/build...ower-receiver/

I purchased a brass punch set and an AR armorer's combo wrench before starting. I happened to have all of the other tools mentioned on the website. I also used YouTube videos for a couple of places when I wanted to see the procedure in action.

I'm just some random lady and I managed to build it with no problem on my kitchen table. It was easier than I expected and I had fun. Check out the step-by-step instructions and pictures at the link - this guy really spells it out for you.

Good luck!

Pretty easy with you tube. I did two for the first time. Watch for spring popping. Do it in a clean, uncluttered area so any parts lost can be found more easily

Here's what everything looked like after I was done and the tools I had.

Edited to add: Clarification for the record.....this was before the RAW deadline. I either converted my rifles to featureless or disassembled them prior to the deadline.

I don't believe a beer would last long enough to build a lower.

Maybe pre-party in the parking lot?
