Default Gunfighter closing down retail store

Thanks for the info. Met Gussler once but didn’t bother to ask. Very nice guy. I’ll give him a buzz.

I'm sad too. GFT was my go to shop. They earned my business because of great service and their "no special rules for special people" policy. That is literally putting your money where your mouth is. I returned the favor.

More specifically, is anyone doing free ammo transfers like GFT? If not, who has the best price?

Probably not, they were awesome for providing this service…but if someone finds one please let us know. The search is on for the cheapest place to transfer ammo.

I copied and pasted the following from their website if that helps?
"Gunfighter Tactical
Aka GFT Customs is your San Diego one stop shop for gunsmithing, Cerakote, engraving, stippling, slide cuts, & all other gun mods ❌NO Firearm Sales❌"

i think they're trying to show representative engraving? i sure miss them. It does mention gunsmithing.....curious as well.

They kept their ffl07 which allows manufacturing.

They got rid of their ffl01, which allowed the store front.

An FFL07 can operate a retail store front if they wanted to. That's probably how they are able to still do gunsmithing work and keep the lifetime warranty on their previously sold products.

i think in their case it means they can do gunsmithing or keep/store your gun at their place while they do cerakoting or engraving etc.

Makes you wonder how well business is going for them now.

Fading away? Or busy enough to bring in the money with just gunsmithig, while they possibly relocate to Tennessee?

Still haven't found a new shop to call home yet. From the looks of it, Gusslers is the only decent choice for ammo transfer at $20, though limited pick up window.

Where are you ordering from? Most sites won’t ship to Ca anymore, so I’d like to find one that does. Thanks

I’ve been into the new shop a few times since the retail shop closed. They’re super busy. I guarantee they’re doing quite well with lower overhead and constant work. Glad to see them still prospering. Good guys.

Really sad to read this today. I PM'd a seller about buying his handgun and said "hey, lets me at GFT"....He let me know the news about the store closing. I feel like my girlfriend just broke up with me and is now banging my friend.

When they were in the old shop and were Wiser Owl, I took a Glock there that I Bubba'd and they worked on that thing for over an hour. Ryan chatted with me and my wife the whole time. No charge! Just really good guys.

I've known David at AO Sword in El Cajon for a number of years. Great guy.

Gusslers is good too but I always feel like Spicoli when I go there and he's Mr Hand about to yell at me about something I did wrong on a form. lol

Well, they're great cerakote'ers and their gunsmith has always done great work for me. I will keep going there for these services as long as I can.

Bummed he couldn't move his FFL to a new shop.

How is Honey Badger? I know they were in the news for all the wrong reasons when the Sheriff Garmo scandal hit and never really heard good or bad.

I need to do a PPT and replace a handguard and re-pin\re-weld the new brake.

ETA ; The guys at Firearms Unlimited recommended to me Clothey and Sons gunsmithing. http://www.sandiegogundoctors.com/contact/

Yes! I've known David for several years, from before he opened up his shop and did smithing work out of his home. Nice guy.

According to folks on Reddit, GFT is opening their retail store back up. A smaller place near the old place. Not sure if they'll have the same policies as before though.

That is fantastic news. While they are my go-to LGS because of both their service and their policies, I don't really know them personally. My gut tells me however that their policies are a result of deeply held beliefs and they will remain.

The other shop is just gunsmithing. No longer an LGS. It was open shortly after the retail shop closed. Busy as ever and still pumping out some great builds but just customers provided firearms.
