^ Wanna share the spot Jimi? So we can go ruin it and drag our trash out there to shoot and leave behind?

Thanks.

Haha, I had a friend that want to buy an old car so he could rig it and drive it off a mountain. Guy was serious... I just don't know about people sometimes.

I currently have a car I want to do this too. It's a worthless POS that'll never be part of a collection (Saturn Outlook). I'm thinking when I buy my next car that I'm going to sell or donate it to a place that teaches vehicle tactics so that it's not a big deal when bullets go through the windshield, etc. It depends on how much Carmax offers me for it.

Anyone willing to share driving directions to BLM land that doesn't have current fire restrictions? I'm a long time member. Going to be taking out my wife and cousin, we intend to bring a tarp to make it easier to gather up casings, using a steel target, and trash bags incase we run into left over trash at the site. Only going to shoot .45, .22, and .223, please DM me if you are ok with sharing one of your spots as the spot I used to go to behind southbay rod and gun is difficult to get to without a 4x4 truck and I recently sold my balls... I mean my truck to buy a family SUV. It's front wheel drive..... A crv..... I'm sad

All of Imperial County is open. bring shorts, sandals, sunblock and a wife beater shirt, it's around 100 degrees.

I've been cleaning up Imperial areas for 40 years. They aren't getting any better. Public posting this info doesn't help much. I know it's a big area but every little bit helps.

Steel targets ok? I though that was a no no on BLM due to fire safety? Or is that just steel ammo? I’ve just been using paper targets.

I use paper here, old roadside campaign signs. Slap a shoot-n-C on them and blast away at democrats.

Went out to imperial county yesterday, it was really easy to get to from the 8, a little bit of offroading but nothing a small SUV can't handle. It was windy for sure but actually never went above 70 degrees. Plan to go out again next week

I went yesterday and I'm still fried from the heat, sun and long drive. I passed my fav mountain BLM spot that was still green, wet, creeks flowing and fire closures.

Nice, I love me a good hot day in the sun shooting, especially with a full truck of watermelon. I usually eat one watermelon but the smell of fresh melon and gun powder is one of my favorite smells.

I live in the Imperial Valley. The only spot I know for sure I can shoot is a place near Holtville (east of the city of El Centro) local hotspot for shooting, nothing fancy. I know its ok because we went out shooting and the Sheriff cruised by to check on us.

I am currently looking for spots west of Ocotillo, I off road there weather permitting. I'll be heading out to the washes next weekend to get some shooting in. We will see what BLM has to say about this, not sure what a good spot but I guess Ill find out.

Easiest way, find the most obvious spot and look for shooting activity. Odds are, you'll find some brass laying around.

There are several areas in Imperial that SDMust cleans several times a year .
We will be planning a clean and shoot in the next month ( before the end of June )
It will be early morning before it gets too hot .

Drive around shooting street signs, when you find some that have already been shot you're in the right area. JK.. don't really do that haha.

There is a BLM app, and a couple others that have the federal, state and county zoning maps as an overlay on your phone. you can find the BLM areas and then start looking for evidence of shootings like brass or shotgun hulls etc.

unfortunately that is kind of what the reality is now a days. even the cleanest sites have some shooting signs.

Time to switch to beach/lake activities. kayak fishing, swimming, free diving, SCUBA, Beach BBQs with tactical nerf wars, evening/morning hikes. Scouting for deer at higher elevation spots.

It's summer time. Too hot and a long drive for open spots. Your best bet is to go to Pala or South Bay Rod and Gun Club. Get some instruction if you're new to shooting. It's better to have quality instruction and knowledge about your average gun, than a top quality gun that you don't know how to use to it's potential.

When you go on public land, be safe and clean up after yourself and pick up some trash left by others. We have too many people that leave a mess and it gets areas shut down.

If I'm reading it correctly, Imperial County is open to target shooting but San Diego County is still closed.

The last few times I have been by Pink Gate i have seen people hunting. Granted, one person had a bow, but the next day i saw guys with rifles.

So, technically it is "open", but only for hunting. Not for target shooting.

Hey,
I'm new to the area and honestly I've never been able to figure out BLM maps very well. Can y'all help me find places to shoot? I'm in North County near the base so if there's somewhere close it would rock but I'm good to drive. I'm also open to help with clean ups and have a pickup truck.
Thanks,

Helping at one of the cleanups is the best way to find a spot. We don't like to post shooting spots online because then they get over run with people and trash and then get shut down.
