Sacramento Rifleman Appleseed April 30/May 1
Windy windy windy!!! My 15 year old finally came with me this trip. Lots of familiar faces and lots of new faces. We were down a handful of instructors but everyone that had been before pitched in and we had a great weekend. My kid struggled with his rifle a little bit on the AQT but once he switched to my rifle he made Rifleman first try with a score of 216. I think we had a total of 7 Rifleman. It was a tough shoot, last time I shot a 242 this time I was only able to hit 224. The wind and weather conditions definitely played a role in it. It didn’t hit him until the ride home how much fun he had but all he’s been talking about since is what he’d do different or what he plans to change on his rifle. I think he’s hooked
 Now I need to get him to a known distance event.

It was a great weekend, I have more bruises than last time, and in different places! Was an all-round good time.... shot a 207 that with an 8th of an inch poi change would have been a 213!
Next time!

I concur, a great weekend. Basically 2 weeks of Army or Marine Corps marksmanship training crammed into 2 days (minus some incentive training and other extra curricular activities).
The AQT was challenging, and I was happy to qualify as a Rifleman. My 11 year old son had a great introduction to firearms safety and marksmanship. It was the first time he had fired a real gun. Thank you to the instructors and other very helpful shooters. We had a great time and my son asked if he could bring his younger brother next year!
