One or the other if not both. Before then every week there were updates with added ccw's. Wondering why this happened though and what it means moving forward. The stays don't lie and beats any conversation.

It's possible permits simply expired and the people didn't renew them. But it would be nice to know.

I think this scenario is likely; some people just don’t like going through the hassle of getting permits renewal.

I just submitted my renewal application a little over a week ago, will see how long it will take.

Updated today to 6,146 jumped 278 ccw's. Good to see. At least the process didn't hault.

Interesting in deed, I got a reply from the Sheriff's office yesterday about when they are going to add appointments/staff to address the full year of backlog...

Her reply was, we have received 1700 new applications since Bruen

WHAT, only 1700 in a town of 3.4M?

Get the word out, we need to flood them with 10k, 50k new applicants... to support a lawsuit regarding the excessive delays, not that 15 months currently isn't bad enough, the next appt is next July

Just an FYI for anyone “modifying” their permit. Took me 9 days from submission to get my permit.

My renewal took 13 days, submitted app on 7-7, approved on 7-20. Not too shabby!

Getting your personal info doxed by the CA AG may have damped applications. The new "sensitive locations" restrictions have also damped applications.

Since the SC case CCW's have become less desirable here due to CA crackdowns.

Thoughts on CCW with 1 hand that is pretty banged up

My wife has some arthritis in her left hand (right handed) and now with it being broken twice in a year, she is not really able to rack a slide (9mm) and the carry revolvers are just too much for her small, good hand

What is the process to qualify 2 handed or with just her right?

Carrying a 380 would be better than nothing so that might be an option when it comes to racking the slide...

Yeah especially given the 2 yr renewal cadence, it's been 4 years since they started issuing so this is when the original holders are renewing for their second time. Wouldn't be surprised if some folks decided it wasn't worth the effort to renew a second time.

Well she has to be able to pass the shooting test. But when shooting two handed, the left hand doesn't really have to do much. She could probably even "cup and saucer" it if she can't actually wrap her left hand around the grip.

Note that Smith & Wesson has their "EZ" line which is supposed to be a lot easier to rack. I think there is both a .380 version and a 9mm version. These may not be on the roster but given her situation it may be worth paying the PPT surcharge.

TY, yes I am familiar with the EZ line, it's off-roster my daughter has one, maybe she is in the gifting mood

Wondering how folks who are physically affect pass the shotting test, can't believe the sheriff's office would say, 2 hands and each hand or you don't pass

Only 5 out of the 15 rounds are shot one handed. 3 strong hand, 2 weak hand. If you land all 10 two handed rounds in the black, you only need to land 1 of the one handed rounds. 11 hits is minimum to pass. The target is large, it's a really easy test.

I'm a 2A absolutist, we should have constitutional carry nationwide, no permission slips or tests. That said, if someone can't pass this easy of a test they should probably reconsider if they should be carrying.

The website indicates they still are evaluating Bruen. Is the sheriff still requiring a good cause statement prior to approving a ccw?

I've heard good things about the EZ. A friend of mine (older lady) ended up qualifying with a Walther P22 because it was the only thing she could rack. I purchased a little Sig P238 later and she was able to shoot and rack that. While she doesn't have arthritis, she does have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and could still handle it.
