Default What .22 rifle do you covet

Lots of them out there. And there are different focal points for different views on what is desirable. Anything from accuracy to survival skills.

Marlin model 60. Not hard to get, but I love the styling and have a fondness for marlin rifles. Unfortunately the safe is full at the moment, although I?m considering selling one of my custom 10/22s next year to make room.

Winchester falling block single shot. Any one. They used to have a case colored receiver. Here's a link to the 1885 low wall rimfire:

My Henry Golden Boy. I have an older model made in NJ.

Easily beats my AR-22. Plus I look good shooting it.

I really wanted a CZ 457 LH Varmint. They don't make many of them and when one finally came up I decided it was overall more expensive than I wanted to get into. So I found a Savage B22 LH for cheap at Bass Pro and I really like it and the cost was about half of the CZ.

I was late to the CZ fan club, and really regretted not getting a 452 Varmint. They were long discontinued and sold out everywhere. Then in March, 2015, Bud's got a few. I got one of the very last ones of the batch, and haven't seen one since. I rarely shoot it, but I'll probably never let loose of it.

A Weatherby bolt action made by Anschute (sp) .. Couldn?t pull the trigger on one ,, been kicking myself since then..
Also the quad Sako ,, four calibers not so much but two would have been perfect..

Sako Quad

I have the set (case, four barrels, etc), bought new in 2011, along with the Burris Sako Quad scope that I sourced from England.

I think after 12 years of seasoning in the safe unfired, it’s ready to be taken to the range, haha!!

That's a great thread question Dirtlaw, because who doesn't love a nice .22 rifle.

I'll go against style of the answers so far with the high quality, beautifully made .22 target or squirrel hunting style rifles and make the .22 rifle I would love to own be the long out of production American 180 model.

Us gun folks have probably seen it before on YouTube letting loose with its full automatic fire and it's 275 rounds drum capacity but here's a link to 45 seconds of a man who took two of them and joined them to fire at the same time.
(The first YouTube comment says it all.."What a waste of ammo. I'll buy two.")

Many years ago maybe 1996 I sent my first 10-22 to Clarke in Louisiana to have the bells and whistles done to it action and barrel, it sits in a Boyd stock it has been a tack driver, my grandson who is 37 now learned to shoot with it, been in the safe for a while need to get it out.

Most of them. Love .22s. Not sure how many I have. Have several old school target models with target sights. Collectable and still shootable. Best of both worlds.

Current favorite is a 1947 vintage Winchester 52B with Vaver-Wittek sights.

Marlin 39a lever, Savage Mako bolt, AR22 semi-auto built to look like an M16. I've got to get a pump 22 to round out all the actions.

I bought my Anschutz 54 Sporter in 1978 at the Pomona Fair Grounds, Great Western Gun Show, for $250.00, it was a cash-and-carry transaction. I have gone through 3 cases of ammo with it (15,000 rounds). I have shot everything with it, from sparrows and ground squirrels to badgers and coyotes.

Anschutz Fortner straight pull action like an 1827F.

But I'm pretty happy with my stainless 10/22.

I love the 10/22 for what it is, and the Marlin 60 for the same. The Walther Uzi 22lr is a blast as well. I'll have to remember to take it out next time I turn money into noise.

I recently picked up an Anshutz model 64 Match from a Calguns member and it shoots FANTASTIC. I threw an old piece of junk bushnell on it and immediately won a small local smallbore match with a ridiculously good score. I don't remember exactly, but it was something like 98-6X out of 100 possible. Haven't found time to shoot it since, but I immediately fell in lust with that little rifle. I've also got an Annie 54 Sporter that is my squirrel monster. Thousands and thousands of those destructive little buggers have been eradicated with the 54.

I always wanted a Ruger 1022 Talo model. That?s the one with the match trigger and Bull Barrel and Hogue stock. Just bought one and put it in jail. Besides that a 1022 from the 1960s would be really nice.

I totally relate. I wanted a model 60 as a kid and my folks wouldn't get me one.
three years ago, at the age of 51, I finally said f it and went and bought one. Mind you, I own upwards of 30 22lr firearms, including a lot of rifles, and have owned almost twice that number over my lifetime. Yet, for some unknown reason, I had never bought a model 60! Well, I have one now and it is super fun. I put all the expensive DIP stuff on it, which I love, added some Tech sights, and it is just a great shooter for a grab and go rifle to take to the indoor range when I want a simple, relaxing shooting session.

I've got a couple variations of the Winchester pump 22's and while I love the look and history of them, I just don't enjoy shooting them that much. Not sure why. I've got 2 Rossis, one with a missing bolt, that I thought I'd like as a fun range blaster I'd take out every time but it doesn't make me smile like the levers do. Probably oughta think about selling them, except for the first year Winchester 1890...it's too cool to part with even if I've only shot it twice and probably never will again.

Winchester 52 and Sako Quad or a Tikka T1x are high on my list.
I have most of the other ones mentioned here.

My Beretta Olimpia is very cool.
I have a 40x receiver from the CMP and an original walnut 40x stock and a krieger ratchet rifled blank that I still need to put on the action to finish the 40x.

Both of my Marlin 39As. One has a rounded lever and the other has a rectangular lever. Very accurate shooters.

My Marlin 39a is my all time favorite. But one that I don't see any of is my Shultz and Larson m70. Very accurate for it's age.

As silly as it sounds I want another Remington 521JT. It’s the best rifle I’ve ever owned and it’s seen a whole lot of use and is cosmetically not great. Shoots like a dream though. I wouldn’t mind finding a really nice one to hand down to grandkids one day.

Also, way less cool I need a Ruger 10/22. I’ve never owned one and a few months back before I lost my mag buying privileges I bought a ton of bx 25 magazines for one so I’d have them. I need to just do it but I gotta make room in the safe first.

Two Winchester 52's models I picked up many years ago. The 52C is in it's original factory wood box it has a Unertl 14X scope. It's like new. The other is a 52B and is in a shooters case. It has a Redfield 12x scope.

But I really like shooting my simple Winchester 69A

My favorite is my Fathers childhood 22. It was given to him when he turned 10 years old. It's a Remington 12-C made in 1924. It was the first gun I ever fired. It will be given to my Grandson (who by coincidence is named Remington) when he is old enough to begin shooting.

Hard to believe this rifle will be 100 years old next year.
