Can you help out a newb?

Im a new gun owner, but not a new shooter. Im trying to get into hunting, shooting a mini-14. I find that im able to shoot it very accuratly to 300 yards at a gong. Any tips? Good ammo? And what do i need to do for hunting coyote or deer?

Welcome to the forum!

For the mini, you'll want an optic if you're going to go for yotes. For deer, you'll need another rifle that shoots a more appropriate round.

I have a cheapo bushnell scope on it that seems to work wonders. The thing is that i doubt itll hold up to the recoil for very long (ive heard horror stories about minis and their abuse on optics)

Better to ask your question in the rifle section - more people will see it and be able to help you. There are several guys here who hunt - they can help you for sure.
