Default New for 2019, Winchester Wild Cat .

New for 2019, Winchester Wild Cat, how is it ? For me, it looks very similar to Ruger 10-22.
Weight only 4 lbs, MSRP $250, expect street price will be $180-$200 ?

A lot easier to maintain and clean. I may be looking to swap out my Ruger.
You can use 10 or 25 round Ruger mags on the Wildcat. Smart move!

No barrel band, maybe the barrel is free floated - never a bad thing.

Does a 10/22 count as "striker fired"? I've never seen that term used to describe a rifle before..

Is this even for sale yet? I’ve seen articles for months, but no ads to buy.

Interesting. Wonder where it's being made and by whom?

It seems to hit some of the buttons that the stock 10/22 misses, such as pic rails and cleaning port, but interesting that it uses 10/22 mags. At $200 more or less I'd buy one.

Seems to be vapor-ware so far, haven't seen any ads for it yet. I'm not a big fan of plastic stocks but I don't especially like the style of this one regardless.

I've been interested in this since it was shown at Shot Show. There have been a couple of reviews, but nothing for sale anywhere. I spoke with a couple of people at different gun stores, and they both said that Winchester has a reputation for announcing new products and then not making them available for a ridiculously long amount of time.

I *believe* that I saw a review that stated that these are made in Turkey.

Ruger 10/22 has a hammer with a spring, and pressing the trigger releases the hammer. So it is classified as hammer fired. Most bolt action rifles are striker fired (I cannot think of any that are not). When cocked, a compressed spring holds back the firing pin (striker). Pressing the trigger releases the firing pin.

All my semi-auto and lever-action rifles are hammer fired, and all my bolt action rifles are striker fired. HTH

I've been watching this rifle since I first saw it on clips from the Shot Show. Even had $$ set aside so when it came out I could go get one. It's been 4 months of watching and feeding the model number into my search engine hoping for the day I see it's available for purchase. Just recently my searches have been producing a larger number of retailers that have this gun listed, not for sale yet but soon. Cabela's being a major website and retailer when I started seeing them list it as a back order, shipping soon. this got me all excited. Cabela's as you may know does not have a store here in CA. But are partnered with Bass Pro Shop which does have stores in CA.

I noticed a week ago that on Cablea's website there is a tab for 'Restrictions" and in there it notes this item can not be shipped to CA. From everything I have seen there is no reason this should not be able to be sold here.

Any of you guys know of why this gun might not fit the bill to be sold in CA ?

Was so disappointed in this I went out and bought a Marlin model 60 instead, if it does end up being available in CA I might get one later one down the road. For now I am extremely happy with my Marlin plinker.

Great choice, the Marlin model 60 is my favorite of all my 22s

It appear that the receiver is plastic in the photos. Not sure. Personally would prefer a Ruger.

I gather that some sellers won't sell some firearms in California because the Proposition 65 notification requirements are too complicated.

Palmetto State Armory published a detailed explanation of the Prop 65 requirements.

From what I've read some sellers are working on meeting them so I think the Wildcat will eventually be sold in California.

I still want one.

That looks pretty cool. A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to shoot a Rossi RS22 and I have to say I was very impressed with it. Smooth describes it best.

Are the RS22 and Mossberg Plinkster the same rifle?

Very similar , there is a rumor that it will take the Mossberg 702 25 round mag but we didn't have any at the time to check. But it seems the internet is saying this.

The 10-22 uses a hammer.

I have too many .22 rifles already. But I'll likely buy one of these Wildcat's if they ever hit the shelves.

if the striker has double strike capability it will be a true game changer

my guess is as soon as it hits the shelves there will be a safety recall for some reason

Cabela’s is taking backorders with an estimated ship date of 1 to 2 weeks:

Test results indicate pretty poor accuracy. I'll stick with my BRNO #1s. If I want to shoot semi auto, I have two of the old version Winchester Wildcats, but purchased direct as Russian imports rather than with the Winchester badge, which will shoot 1" groups at 50 yards (about what I expect from a semi auto .22) and which cost me $100.00 each.
