Default Do I Have the Keys To Your Police Vehicles? Probably.

Found a 1284X key online for about $5. Combine with public records laws I can determine what cities use such keys and open your doors or even your trunk.

There are different series of keys. I carry 2 series of keys and they work for different applications. It isn't one size fits all.

One night LAUSD Police parked one of their Crown Vics in a bad spot so I asked one of their officers to move it. He said it was not his car so I said I'll move it and I did.

Multiple agencies will do a fleet purchase to get a great price and all the cars were keyed a liked.

Every used police crown Vic has that key

So every trust worthy cab operator with a used cop car

Every Hemet/ Victorville tweaker who purchased a used cop car has the police fleet key

It’s not new news

Is there a prisoner who has not heard this story... no cell phone... no internet... just jail gossip

Not a restricted key too.

Many of the tahoe trucks are keyed the same

Those night be sergeants, swat, watch commander

This is why I take every opportunity to pull over used cop cars. For some reason dirtbags are attracted to them......gotten some really good arrests on this principle. Guns, dope, you name it.

Also makes sense why older cars get stolen easier... Fleet keys were a bad idea from the get-go

It's true, dirtbags like driving burnouts. It's easy to spot the warrant wagons.

I’d haul you in for possession of burglary tools and use this thread as evidence of your intent to commit burglary of police vehicles.

Old Ford pre-electronic keys have had "uniqueness" problems for a long time. A friend of mine had a Pinto, and friend 2 had a Maverick. Friend 2 tried his key in the Pinto for ****s and giggles. It worked, door, ignition, everything. So he took the car and drove it down the block and parked it, so friend 1 would think someone stole it. I guess it was hilarious, I wasn't there, I heard about it later.
