Default What type of ID is required for Seller for a PPT

A friend is asking; as the Seller/Transferor in a PPT, what type of ID am I legally required to provide to the FFL for the transfer?

Can a Federal Limits Apply (FLA) CDL be used?

Or, must a birth certificate be provided, as well?

Can the requirement differ by FFL?

Can the FFL deny the PPT based on the Seller's FLA CDL?

Thanks very much for your assistance!

From all the PPT's I've been too (always the Buyer), I've always just seen the Seller bring their Drivers License.

Granted, if it says "Federal Limits Apply" I would bring a passport/birth certificate just in case.

Or better yet, just have your friend call the FFL they plan on using and ask to make sure.

Yes they can deny.

Is the gun off roster? That is a definite problem.

If on roster, check with the FFL as stated above or hold on for an answer below.

FLA in this case means federal limits apply, not Florida

So roster doesn't matter.

OP - this is going to be up to the FFL. Here is the problem: if the DROS is denied, the FFL is supposed to give the gun back to the seller, but it may not be legal for them to do that without proof of citizenship. So some FFLs will not even start a PPT from a seller unless they know the seller has ID that would make them eligible to purchase a gun themselves.

Crap! Dang duplicate acronyms.

Thanks, Skyhawk.

OP: Please ignore my post (unless it is Florida and FLA )

I once had a creative writing instructor advise that abvetns were a lazy way to communicate and left the reader uninterested.
