Default Headed to Idaho!

Leaving Saturday am for Idaho deer hunt. Canít wait to be there, Iíve never hunted Idaho so it will be a big learning experience. We will be hunting mulies just S/W of Challis.

Wall tent and stove is packed, all the gear is boxed up and ready to go.

The wait is killing me, canít wait to get out there and get to it!

Any last second advice is welcomed!

Saw the biggest Muley I'll probably ever see in my life up out of Challis in the same area. Was just after a major snowstorm and I was using my Pops old Rem 742 semi-auto 30-06. Pulled the trigger and it was so cold got a light primer strike from the damn pos. By the time I cleared/chambered another round, poof, he was gone.

I was just in that area looking for elk (north end of 36a). I left as I was into more elk further south (arrowed one) but I did see a sustantial amount of deer there. If you havent hunted there be ready for the terrain, its much more brutal than the other western states. I'd reccomend trekking poles especially for the pack out.

Was just up in the Sawtooths hunting 43....26 degrees this morning, so not too bad. My advice is to look up high, as we haven't had a lot of weather yet. All the does I saw were close to 8,000 feet.

Thanks for the input guys. We plan on camping at about 8,000í figuring the deer will still be high. 4 guys in our group, filling a couple tags would be a success, all 4 would be amazing. Time will tell!

We got into moose and elk today, and lots of does. Kinda bummed that I have a cow tag this year that starts next week. I had a MASSIVE 6 point bull in front of me for several minutes, and couldn't shoot him....

Anyway. Here are some pictures of what you might see on your Idaho hunt.
Good luck!

Awesome photos where were you for this hunt? Iím not asking for coordinates just general area. I assume way north if you got into moose.

Thanks for the well wishes!

Tex creek wildlife management area. It's easy to find just east of Idaho Falls. And the moose are pretty much everywhere except out on the dessert. You will probably see some up by Challis if you look.
Good luck with your hunt.
