First few rounds with my new bow
This is all I need: another expensive hobby.
Picked up my bow last week: Recurve "bare bow", no sights, none of those stabilizer things that look like you're expecting hand-to-hand combat. Given that I've only shot a bow two or three times in my entire life, I was quite surprised to get this group from about 7 yards on my 3rd set of arrows: and this from about 12 yards: Only smashed one arrow against the concrete wall. :-) Right now, I've got the 30lb arms... trying to learn to shoot before I let my ego buy my hardware... but hopefully i'll be up to something in the range of a hunting bow... (80 lbs?)

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling. I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest. |

My plan is to fire a few volleys before I leave for work in the morning, every day.. nice thing about archery is people won't call the cops if you do it in your back yard. :-)

You're off to a good start, though. Practice as close range until you get real consistent and comfortable before moving back further in distance. Then if you ever get bored try out an Asiatic (horse bow) with a thumb ring draw, it's like learning to shoot all over again. |

As it turns out, it's easier to say "I'll wake up a little early" than it is to actually wake up early...

Pretty sure shooting arrows is not shooting "rounds", I believe the term is "flights" of arrows. But as long as you don't refer to your quiver as a "clip" most folks around here won't be too upset.

I've also heard the term "ends"... but I've never been big on nomenclature.

Looks like i'm going to be a "string walker". I hate the idea of counting threads, hopefully i can get something good using my own fingers as a guide, but it seems to work better for me... I like that i can put the tip of the arrow on the bullseye.
Shot an improving group today: about 3" wide, although about 7" tall... from 10 yards.
