Default ACSS holdovers question

Really dumb question since I know this isn’t what it’s meant to do. I picked up a .300 blk AR and love it, happen to have an extra new in box 5x acss scope in the shelf but it’s got 5.56 bdc hashes on it. Have you guys ever monkeyed around with how those holdovers end up with .300 blk?

That's going to depend on type of ammo, velocity, barrel length. Too many variables. You will just have to sight it in with the ammo you are using.

You can try using a ballistics app like Strelok and extrapolate the data from 5.56 to 300blk.

It's harder on a fixed magnification. An app will help only if you actually know the numbers of your rifle (velocity etc.). Probably just going to have to dope it yourself. They aren't that expensive though. At today's prices you might spend almost that much in ammo just figuring it out versus buying a 2x or 3x that's already for 7.62/300blk!

I think for my purposes I may stick with this optic for a basic purpose. I have a dedicated deer rifle but have been going pig hunting. Loaded up some .300 130 grain TSX rounds. I have been shooting the AR with a cyclops on it and I like it, just wanted a little more magnification for hunting. I figure if I sight it in with the 5x at 50 yards that’ll cover me from 50-200 with just the chevron, and I’m not realistically gonna shoot farther that that with a .300 blk at an animal.

This would be the best way to see what lines up
