I just picked mine up earlier this month! So far I waiting on the 7 round mag tube from carrier comp and the trigger assembly from Freedom fighter tactical when they are back in stock to make it 922r compliant. After that I'll send pics and join the rest of the crew!

Let us know about the carriercomp waiting list. I ordered one about 2 years ago and it took right around 3 months, which isn't bad (he said upfront it would be a 3 month wait), I'm just curious if it's taking longer or shorter these days. You'll love it when you'll get it, it's well worth any wait. As someone else quipped one time, "it matches the benelli finish better than benelli"

Congrats on your purchase, I absolutely LOVE mine!

Oh for sure! On a side note I took the it out shooting using winchester 2 3/4 birdshot ammo and for whatever reason it wouldn't auto feed into the barrel after firing the 1st shot (I had to pull the charging handle back with each round). I had no problem with the remington bird shot ammo or the winchester slug but I did notice length wise the remington shell was a bit taller. Is this happening because the shotgun is not broken in yet?

Mine too... birdshot sucks, shoot literally anything else for a while and you won't have that issue. After a few hundred buckshot or slug shells you should be able to fire birdshot again. But honestly I never do - I gave all my birdshot away to friends, and I just shoot 00-buck even for practice. If you hunt around online you can find 00-buck for around $80 for 250 shells, not that much more than birdshot.

Anyways, you're not alone, a lot of people have reported needing to fire a few hundred heavy shells before it cycled birdshot very well.

They seem to exist to frustrate and annoy people who pay them in full, in advance.

If you want one, my advice is do not even try to interact with them. It is simply a recipe for futility and frustration. Just send them your money and accept that one day, maybe three months, maybe a year from now you'll get a white cardboard tube with one of their beautiful titanium tubes in it in the mail.
Haha, well said... yes, that's exactly what I did. I never called or emailed or bugged them, I just placed my order and "forgot" about it until it showed up one day. They've never NOT fulfilled anyone's order, so don't worry about that. Also, they will refund the up-front charge without cancelling your order if you make that request, and they'll just run the charge when it ships, although I didn't bother to try that myself. But they have said they'll do that for anyone who asks.

And if you start to feel angry about the wait, go read the Saltworks thread in the semi-auto rifle forum and you'll feel a lot better

I was going to make a joke about how you should just give it to me then, but then I remembered that I have 2 rifles I still haven't fired yet in my safe that cost as much or more than the Benelli.

But yes, I agree with the above, you're missing out, you need to take it shooting. Most shotguns I would say "aren't not fun" to shoot (intentional double-negative), but the M4 is actually just downright enjoyable. Especially with a 7-shell tube. And especially on BLM land where you can rapid-fire and knock down soda cans to your heart's content.

Somewhere, a while back, I posted a video of myself shooting 8 shells of 00-buck at a pile of junk around 50 yards away, in 1.3 seconds. Just imagine what this thing could do if it had a 30 magazine clip

I've been planning to put an RMR on my M4 as well, to replace a cheesy tru-glo red dot I have on there now. It's nice to see what that would actually look like, thanks for the photos. Let me know how it works out! If you like it, I might expedite my purchase of an RMR finally

I definitely agree with that double negative but just about any shotgun can be fun. For example the first my wife shot a pump shotgun her first set of rounds were target load & she liked it. Then the next set of rounds were 00 buck. Well it was fun for me to watch

Ha! Yep that'll happen...

I used to shoot an 870 all the time before I got my M4, and after a box of slugs or buckshot I would go home with a big yellowish-purple bruise on my shoulder. Anything beyond more than a box stopped being fun, it just hurt. The M4 ARGO action sucks up a ton of the recoil, I can shoot 200 shells of 00 and feel totally fine. Even slugs are no problem. It's a totally different animal from a pump shotgun

Hope to take it out soon. Gotta find time. Will get back to you. Overall sight picture is really nice, I have the red dot on the second lowest settings. All the other settings seemed to bright for me. Tried aiming in a dark room, dark room with surefire light on, normal lit room, bright room. I switched out the front sight for the Meprolight a while back, wasn't too impressed. Meprolight works fine in a dark room, but outdoors I had a hard time seeing the front sight. I took too long to acquire targets.

That was me

KeyeNewen, a few posts up from here, has the exact same setup and his post is what sparked me to finally make the upgrade myself. He hadn't shot his either yet when he posted it, but maybe he has by now

The other upgrade I did to my benelli, to make is a full-blown HD shotgun, was to put a super-low-profile light on my surefire rail. I'll post a pic when I get a chance, but this is the light I got:

(not blindingly bright like a true tactical light or anything, but plenty bright for identification and aim purposes. I keep a surefire flashlight on the nightstand as well)

MFT Backup Light:

True tactical lights are not crazy bright though sir. That, is a myth that will get you dead.

Try this; go into a room that is pitch black. Stand there long enough for your eyes to really adjust to the dark. Less time for young guys, but still a full couple of minutes. More time for us older guys. Then point one of these 500 lumen lights at a nearby wall and turn it on, even for a second. Your night vision, is, gone!

120 lumens is all you need close range, HD, room clearing. More is NOT better in this situation!

Long range, that's a different conversation. Longer range you want a very focussed beam. Good ones of those are pricey(!). Your talking Steiner DBAL or SBAL price. These are the best I know. But laser and light cannot be operated separately. I hate(!) that. There's lots of tactical situations where you want one, or the other, even for a second, but NOT both.
Oh I know, my Surefire light is 600 lumen, and I can wake up in pitch black and use it and it doesn't blind me or anything, though it sure is BRIGHT. And ya, night vision is gone after that

My reasoning for the MFT light wasn't because I wanted a dimmer light - in fact, if they made a 1000-lumen version I'd happily upgrade to it My reasoning was that it's freakin' tiny. Adds almost zero weight to the shotgun, very low profile doesn't snag on stuff, and the power button is right where my thumb naturally sits on the forend. It's plenty bright enough, but of course I can see why 20 lumen is less than some people might want. It's basically the same light output as a keychain LED flashlight. Also it defaults to red light, to get the white light you have to hold the button for 1 second, which is exactly the way I like it. Anyways, just throwing out some ideas

I should also note that my RMR dot is plenty bright and visible while running the 20 lumen backup light. I feel like it's a pretty sweet combo, but for some reason nobody ever agrees with me haha. Like I said, if you want to try out my setup just let me know, I love sharing my guns.

Nice looking gun, kinda looks like mine. But it is a sin if you do not shoot it the day it gets out of jail, & desk pops don't count

The "M1014" is the military nomenclature for a M4.

(Also, the M1014 did not come with the collapsible stock.)

Is that a factory color? Didn't know they were coming like that. Very nice!

Thanks!

Yes, that is a factory color. People selling their M4s on Gunbroker describe it as Dark Earth. Benelli's website refers to it as Federal standard Field Drab.

Just jailed! Walked into the local LGS and this was just screaming "Take me Home!" Been thinking about one for a while now. I'm a weak man when it comes to beautiful!

Default So the answer is......

....yes the front sight can be removed from a Benelli M4.

I used an oxy-acetylene torch to detach the front sight from the barrel. I started out heating the top of the sight thinking I would be able watch the heat spread down to the base. As you can see, however, the torch blew right through the softer steel of the sight. Directing the torch to the base of the sight had the desired effect. As soon as the base of the sight turned red it popped off the barrel with a little tug of pliers. It only took about 10 seconds of heat so I don't think barrel got all that hot.

Some work with a fine file was needed to remove the bits of braze welding material left on the barrel. This followed by some careful sanding with 600 grit and then 2000 grit resulted in a perfectly flat and smooth barrel surface.

Default Here is the result....

Carrier comp tube and follower
Briley custom trigger
Benelli C-Stock will be pinned in shortest postion, shown
Custom delrin cheek rest
Shield SIS red dot sight.

I need to find or make a full length pic rail to cover the top of the receiver where the rear sight used to live.

I really like the compact, squared off shooting position. Last details are deciding on the bolt handle and final color.
