Default Remington 700 scope base question?

I have a Remington 700 in 7STW.
I found a scope base locally, but it's a one piece for a short action. Anyone know if the front and rear base holes are the same CTC measurement for ALL 700's?
Would I be able to cut it and use it on my L/A- M/A receiver?
It also has 20 moa built into the base. If it does fit Would the 20 moa still be useable or would it change due to the length difference?
TIA!

Short action and long action are not interchangable.
Just.buy the proper scope base.

Your receiver is a long action.
It will only accept one piece long action scope rails or two piece base sets.
The two piece base sets work for both long or short because they are not connected together while one-piece rails have to be specifically made to be either short action or long action length.

20moa will only come on one piece rails as all the 2 piece base sets are 0moa because they are not specific for short or long action and the angles would be wrong if you made a pair of bases for one length action and then used them on a different length action.

You can cut the center out and just use the ends just like you posted but only if you use rings with a live center such as Burris Jewell or Pearson's.
The end pieces will no longer be in a straight plane meaning if you put a straight edge on the two pieces they will only touch on the two most forward points and will bind up the scope tube.
Cost wise unless you already have live center rings on hand it's cheaper to buy another base off of ebay.
If there was no cant in the base it would work.

For those that are curious you can cut the rear most hole off of a 700 short action base and use it on a Remington 600 to save yourself a few bucks

Several manufacturers make 2 piece bases for both short and long actions.

A 5 second google search of “2 piece 20 moa scope bases” brings up several results, both for short and long actions.

And you can not use the long action 2 piece 20moa bases on a short action or the short action 2 piece 20moa bases on a long action because doing either of those will not have the rings aligned correctly unless the rings have spherical inserts.

OP. Angular (20 moa, 40 MOA, etc) bases/ rails are not compatible between short and long actions.

You can buy a 20 MOA rail, 20 MOA bases, or 20 MOA bases with integrated rings for a long action or a short action. You have a long action, so you should buy those components for a long action.

0 MOA 2-piece bases are generally made for use on either short or long actions.

Ar barrels. 2-piece 20 minute bases do in fact exist. They’re not very common anymore, but they’re out there.
