can y'all please speak s l o w l y and use small words for the sailor?

where is the event and when? or is it still being scheduled?

or is this a roll call for those interested in the future?

do I have to do things that I did in the navy that I swore I wouldn't do anymore?

I have a few levers, my favorites are my dad's old marlins and my favorite modern levers are mag fed for pointy bullets

dad's 336 is the only gunstock on a firearm we have that was carved by grandpa.. he carved for Reinhart Fajen 60-80's

50's 336 30-30
50's 39a
71 BLR .243 Belgian
71 BLR .308 Belgian
71 94 30-30
71 88 .308
71 336 30-30
80's BLR 81 .308
2 golden boys, each with kids initials and birthdate serials.

I have pictures of some;

also have the matching model 100

Yep! That's why I like to provide links to items that are available and easy to review. I'd hate for you guys to miss out on something you want.

If I'm going down with lever fever, I want to make sure that I'm not alone.

Oh yes I am! And, Killer Bee, consider yourself not only a brand new member of the Mojave Lever Crew, but by your collection's attributes alone! you are in line for a possible promotion.

No, we do not have any events scheduled; never really have. We will gather someday soon to shoot, but we should do it in small groups until we hear the sound of the ALL CLEAR.

Look, this is all Tom's fault (pennstater). It was he that accidentally coined the term.

It is golfish's fault for showing Tom and I the location of the original shoot.

It's my fault for getting so damned carried away! with my pontificating style of posting...

And IT'S BOB'S FAULT! that I may spend money on another! lever carbine within the next 90 days...

Eh, who am I kidding... I would probably do it anyway. But it's still Bob's fault.

Killer,
That is a wonderful collection. Those BLR's are stellar. Hope to see you in person at a shoot (when this pandemic thing is over).

Don't let Penn hold your 39A. He will drool all over it. lol

Welcome!

You know who else might join us? SkyHawk. He is an appreciator of the color case-hardened receiver, the lever action, the single-action rotating pistol...

SkyHawk? Do you copy?

I'll have to post a picture of mine when I get home. I thought the action of a Henry was nice and then saw the Taylor in the local Turner's and got to handle that. The action and having a side gate sold me.

Ab-so-frickin-lutely! That's a Marlin 1894 CST (.357 Magnum) and a more-elegant .357 lever gun is hard to find. You have superb taste, sir.

Den60, that Model 1873 is wonderful. We'd call it quite fancy, but in a good way. Not "fancy" in the way of some of the "Commemorative" lever rifles marketed over the years.

Full Clip, I removed the factory-installed picatinny rail on my 1894 SBL (.44 Magnum) after I had seen an 1894 CST like yours.

IMG_1268.jpg

16.5" Marlin 1894 SBL shown here under an 18.5" Marlin 1895 GS

I liked the shorter front XS sight post so I ordered one from XS Sight Systems. I had to trim the bottom of the ghost ring stud .050" once it's pedestal was mounted on the receiver (instead of where it was, on top of the rear of the pic rail). I had a blued dovetail blank handy, and tapped it into the rear buckhorns' dovetail.

Mine's not that old, I bought it new in 1977 (for $127.00). They had a sale on them so I jumped on it. I had to go through 3 rifles before I found one I could work with, the actions were terrible.

A few years ago I had my local 'smith do a makeover on it. He found a checkered walnut stock, hand rubbed it and fit it to the action. He also sent all of the steel parts out to an outfit in Idaho to be polished and deep blued. The receiver has a mirror finish on both sides. Years ago I had removed the lever and trigger and rounded the edges like they do on the 336. Those parts were hard as a rock, it took me forever. I had the trigger 24ct gold plated. I smoothed up the action and fine tuned the trigger.

My pride and joy.

Dan

You guys are making it hard to fight the urge to just buy another lever; but I’m on day 14 of dros for my Smith 57 and 7 for the marlin 39a. And old savage 24c. Serial I think puts the 39 around the early 50s.

Action felt crisp yet butter-like. I can’t wait to try it out...

Quite simply, it is beautiful. Wonderful action and easy on the eyes. I wish I could say that about my two ex wives.

Sadly I’m now on day 15/8. Wonder if I’ll get a release on day 10 of the 39 (making the .41 17 days... :/)

Let’s see that cadet😀

Cleaned up real good last night now today is takedown day as there are a few internals that have a touch of rust.Butt stock has only one small dent/gash that I think I can fix but no big deal.it has been opened up before from what I can see but no buggered screws, trigger is a bit heavy and has some really loose play in it before lock up dont know if this normal or not.
Gotta say this is a purdy rifle, one day I will have to learn to take pics and post them.

Ha — I could only afford one, so I leaned for the best I could get in a caliber I would not mind shooting. Also, I wanted a companion piece for my SW 686 SSR.

The move is delayed a bit for obvious reasons, and we are now looking at a staged three-year plan. But Winter of 2023 is the proposed departure for setting up in North Carolina and Dominican Republic. This will follow some time spent improving the DR property. But we won't start building house there until be are outta CA and living in NC.

Me and the kids were shooting the R92 in the backyard (yup, we got a rifle range) and they love it! This is going to be a problem since they like shooting the R92 more than their custom built 10/22's. 38spl and 357 will never be cheaper than 22lr.

I've created some monsters!

Thanks, right now I’m looking for a Colt single-action revolver.
Can't argue with that. If you find one in .44 Special... and prefer a different chambering, please, let me know!

For those who won't pay the asking price to enter the Colt SAA club, there's always the excellent! Ruger *New Vaquero*.

Welcome aboard! inyo Mark!

(if you like you might email us a photo and we'll post it for you until you have what you need)

Time for another episode of Gunsmoke. G'night, fellers!

Hair,
Nice levers. New Vaquero (now just called the Vaquero) is a top choice in CASS. Excellent single action shooter. Strong, reliable, easy to mod.

Some real nice looking levers you guys have!

I hate you! You bums are really trying to get me to buy one, aren't you. I gotta say, I am intrigued, so one day I'll be asking for recommendations; not yet, though--money is tight at the moment.

It's really nice to see a group that is not into the tacti-cool, Gucci guns. I do own a stock G17 for SD/HD, but my others are a Single Six, and a wood stocked Savage .223 bolt.

A lever is in my future: I can feel it. Uh Oh.

Not a Colt or Ruger, but these are not bad guns -

I need to stay away from these auctions - some really cool guns go for pretty good prices....I bought a Ruger old model Blackhawk from them before for about $300 all included.

Uh Oh.

This forum can be a dangerous place for you wallet. Sometimes, if I get a whiff of what you're interested in (brand, caliber, etc.) I might just start looking for you and post a link!

Mike/glassparman, we have heard from you before, and, my bad! You may have been one of the early candidates I wanted to add once I'd comprised a written list. My apologies for not already having you on our illustrious roster. You are now added. Welcome to the MLC! Keep an eye out for future threads regarding sessions of lead-chuckin'!
