Unlike the public, most politicians have a pretty honed sense of history and know what has happened to unpopular and even popular politicians in the past. I don't believe any politicians actually care about the "safety" of the electorate more than their own self-preservation. All of the politicians that I have worked with first hand are world class Narcissists, it's kind of a requirement to succeed in politics. A Narcissist is incapable of true empathy. The electorate is a tool to be used to reinforce their ego and assert control and dominion over.

They paint civilian firearms ownership as a problem and their heroic legislation and disregarding the Constitution is the solution to the problem. A majority of the electorate obviously buys into this or we wouldn't have the gun laws that we do in this state. It's all about optics and framing their goals and they're obviously very good at it. We, as law abiding gun owners, have had our heads buried in the sand mostly for decades and our activism has not been effective. From a strategic execution standpoint, they are much better at taking our rights than we are at preserving or expanding them.

Absolutely; my first reply in this thread expresses as much.

And to see the media running with it's Anti-2nd Amendment agenda and gaining favorable affirmation from younger generations that are pairing that mantra with Socialist sympathies - is very disturbing.

Their audience is growing each year. Look at what California once was and why it became such a successful, affluent economy up until the 1990s, and why, and who got us there and how - and now look who is the supermajority in charge, and see where California is heading and the catastrophe that is evolving mirroring an 'Atlas Shrugged' style playbook.

The you look at Florida, and see an emerging similarity to what an industrious and freedom-loving 1950s/1960s California had been in kind. Hopefully they never make that left turn Californians did, because apparently there's a cliff right after.

Politicians like Gav boy literally can't contain their glee when mass shootings happen because they know its fuel for their continuing anti-2A tyranny.

I've worked closely with several politicians of varying levels of prominence in my career and it simply reinforced my rock solid belief that to reach this level in politics, a person MUST be a sociopath and likely meets the DSM 5 definition of a psychopath.

They really DO NOT have any empathy or care about people. They care about themselves, their egos and their power and that's pretty much it.
