Default Considering a move to Manteca

Hi all,

The wife and I can't stand the silicon valley anymore. Looking for new digs. We both can work from home.

She has a lot of family in San Jose and some in Elk Grove.

Any suggestions for neighborhoods to look at or avoid? Mountain house was a consideration, but we would prefer being closer to outdoors fun.

Any help or pointers are appreciated!

If you really want that general area, consider Ripon.

I appreciate the input, but it's very vague. Can I have a few reasons to consider pros and cons?

Lathrop river islands is very nice, man made lake by a river. Check out hollister a tad bit more expensive but a much better commute if you ever do have to go to work again, don’t ever plan on commuting over the altamont it’s terrible.

Manteca is similar to Gilroy but with zero charm. Manteca gets spill over crime from Stockton. Ripon has a small town charm to it. Cleaner, quieter, safer but more expensive.

Don't forget about the Central Valley heat compared to SJ.

We checked it out. The wait times for new construction are out of our time frame.

We have a baby and the schools where homes are for sale are mostly terrible in Tracy.

Pleasington and Livermore are probably over the budget.

Check out Oakdale, the Morada area just north of Stockton, or Lodi. Lodi has a cool downtown and the Woodbridge area has some really nice homes.

Manteca is terrible if you have a life outside of eating fast-food.

Used to be a nice quiet farm town, until the trash from the bay area ruined it.

The population has expanded dramatically by the infrastructure and entertainment has not.

Manteca's best known for its obese population. After all Manteca en Espanol=Lard.

You will be in for a huge shock coming from the bay.

You're money will go much further however.

Where will you be working?

Commuting isn't a concern. My jui jitsu club has early morning classes and the few days a week I need to be in the valley I will be on the road around 5:15 in the morning and will leave for home by noon.

I am looking at south Manteca. I can tell the north side closer to Stockton is very much the bad side of town.

My wife and I are great in the kitchen, so cuisine being a challenge isn't a concern either.

I also don't give a **** if my neighbors are disgusting fat bodies. None of my business.

Hughson is a nice, small town. With very nice people. Don't expect giant malls or anything like that. Do expect low crime and helpful neighbors.
