Default Oregon - Lane County

Summary: clean and routine - in and out in 15 minutes.

Oregon, in 2021, is 'shall issue'.

We went for our appointments this morning in downtown Eugene.

It was just clerks checking docs - app, ID, passport, class certificate, check for $65

That done, it was take picture, take prints, fill out an envelope with home address so they can mail the card.

Go home, probably wait the statutory-maximum of 45 days so they do background, get 4-year-valid CHL.

No interview, questions, kerfuffle.

I heard yesterday on the radio that the fee was going to double. Do you know when that is supposed to happen?

The Gov hasn’t signed that bill yet.

Not sure on effective date if passed.

Shall Issue in Oregon ONLY pertains to residents. Statutorily, Oregon is May Issue for non-residents and is RESTRICTED to ONLY the non-residents of the four states contiguous to Oregon! (CA, NV, ID, WA).

You expected something else?

OR also does not honor CCW from any other state.

So?

At least they offer non-resident permits to contiguous states, unlike CA that doesn’t recognize any out of state permits nor does it issue any non-resident permits.

OR isn’t the best as say AZ in terms of reciprocity, but they give us Californians some options.

To my great surprise, hard-card CHL was in the mail today.

Also, adding an Oregon CCW for a resident of California only gets you Oregon insofar as other states you can carry in. The only reason that I can see to get an Oregon CCW would be if you go to that state, which I do not so for me it is not worth the hassle of going to Oregon to get one. For others who do go to Oregon I can see getting one.

Yeah, AZ or UT would be better for CA residents - http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1709750

But since I live in OR, and my infrequent trips out of state are to CA, the OR license covers my needs.
