Default Orange County CCW - applied today

I submitted my Orange County CCW application online today. I had thought about scheduling a class sometime in Oct or Nov but glad I didn't since the first available county appointment is April 20, 2021. I guess I will make sure to schedule a training class sometime in Q1 of 2021.

Also, I was surprised that I had to pay the fee to complete the application. I was sure that I read that you don't pay until the appointment. Not a big deal, pay now or pay later but if I do not recieve a permit it would such to have to pay just to apply.

New to this so if anyone has some advice or can shed some light it would be appreciated.

Training is good for 6 months. While not a bad idea to wait until Q1, I'd still recommend taking some courses (doesn't have to be the required CCW course) to get you comfortable on drawing, shooting, cover, etc.

I take a course every 2-3 months to maintain my skills in addition to dry-fire practice at home and at the range.

Good luck!

Good idea! My son and I went to the indoor range and shot the Shield that will be my CCW. Really happy with it, just need some adjustment of the sights and some ajustments of the shooter as well, LOL. Definitely going to get some training and more range time.

PM me and I can recommend some courses/trainers.

As always, ask questions here. We’re happy to help.

Thanks, will do.

Also, for anyone going through the process I just recieved an email saying that the fee paid online is being refunded since they are not able to process online payments at this time.

Looks like I may be moving back to Oklahoma which is a Constitutional carry state. I wonder if OC will refund my $174 I paid for my interview that’s not until April 2021, LOL.

Use the permitium website and check for cancelled appointments daily. You could probably find one before the month is up.
