On my Savage 10FP I have a 20moa rail, 10x42 scope. I'm running medium rings. I'm guessing you'll need high rings.

I'm sighting in at 100yds. 300 yds is probably the farthest I shoot any time soon. So I went with a 0 MOA picatinny rail.

I looked at that Primary Arms scope too; love my ACSS red dot for 5.56 through a 3x magnifier, but I decided a Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 FFP EBR-2C MRAD would be more versatile. Ring height suggestions for a 20MOA Nightforce base?

Why more versatile? Besides the zoom

^^^ Wow that looks good.

Wondering, is the HOWA 1500 really better bang for the buck than Remington 700? Hmm. this guy seems to think so: https://rifleshooter.com/2017/06/how...action-review/

Personally not looking for a longrifle, but that is a pretty sweet deal.

Magazine is PMAG AICS pattern. The Legacy DBM and mag are pure crap.

Im using the Accurate-Mag Sport Tact Lite chassis and XLR Tactical Lite stock.

Was on XLR's website, but I got the last one for Howa SA. But you can find gen 2 on optics planet as well at a deep discount.

I was in the Roseville store today, picked up one of these with a new AR. Have to wait for it to come in from the warehouse, but still seemed like a good deal.

A more conventional and non caliber specific EBR-2C reticle, in case it eventually goes on some other rifle. Also seems better for developing holdover and wind call skills. I know .308 is not in vogue and the Diamondback glass is not the finest, but there are 1000 yard steels out there and I'm gonna shoot at them (for less than 1k all in, this month anyway).

My rifle showed up and is now in jail; need to have a mat, bag (mine are all too short), bipod, rail, and rings before it gets out. I happen to have a spotting scope already...

For those who don't have a Turner's nearby I wonder if the Savage 12FV is a formidable alternative to the Howa 1500. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/sava...t-action-rifle costs about $70 more but you have the option of 4 different other calibers such as 223, 308, 6.5cm, and .22-250 with a 26" heavy barrel and accutrigger.

Plug in your values and this should tell you where you're at.

I've been using it for years and it has never let me down.

Burris XTR 25 MOA base. I wanted a steel base with a recoil lug and the Burris is the only one fitting my criteria.

I have a Gen II Razor and Vortex 34mm 1.26" rings that will be getting mounted up later tonight.

After owning a Savage 10, I much prefer the build quality and feel of the Howa.

Finally did my DROS this morning. Paid in full 2 weeks ago. So all I had to pay for was DROS.

Dont know how Turners added the numbers but they charged me $30.47 for DROS.

Purchased the Hogue version of the Howa 1500 in 308 with 24" barrel. Immediately removed the stock and swapped for KRG Bravo. The Hogue stock and bottom metal are available for cheap if anyone wants it.

- KRG Bravo
- Burris XTR 25 MOA Rail (bedded)
- HACT Trigger Job - 1.5 coils cut
- Vortex Razor G2 4.5-27x56mm
- Vortex PMR 34mm 1.26" Rings

I have Vortex Defender caps in the mail and will be sending the bolt to Short Action Customs for their bolt knob modification.

I shot it for the first time today and fired 10 rounds of Magtech 150 grain and 10 rounds of Federal GMM 168gr. Best group was 1.25" at 100 yards, so I'm not impressed. Then again the barrel is brand new and may need some more rounds through it before it gets into the groove.

The action feels great and is very smooth. I'll be doing some load testing next range day and am hoping the groups tighten up.

I had the same groupings out of my tikka when i first got it, after about 60 or so rounds the groups closed up a bit more. Also it liked HSM 168gr BTHP better then SMK and GMM go figure.
